"clean up on topic three!"

Done. Guess we can look at adding editing once things settle down.

Thanks I make alot of mistaked :)

I forgot all about the good night Kiwi... I use to dread seeing that clip, because when he came on it was time for bed......
+ An edit would be sweet as i cant spell or type. -
The music is so very soothing.
But I was always mystified about how the cat managed to get up to the top of the tower...

As much as I <3 the Warren & Mahoney designed modern building that is TVNZ's Television Centre, I kind of wish there actually was a television studio built in the side of a white rock mountain, with a little wooden door and steps cut into the outside leading up to the satellite dish.

Awwww... made me cry! And that was just the bit with the milk bottle!
(Oh and obviously the cat goes up in the lift first and then sends it back down for the kiwi. Hours of impassioned debate -- and waiting up to watch it to be absolutely sure because there were no instant replays, videos, or youtube -- finally settled this one for me.)

see, I was willing to just accept that the ways of cats are mysterious, but clearly they are clever AND mysterious.
Thanks for clearing that up!

a hot topic of debate. i'm partial to the idea that the cat whips up early as evidenced by the *returning* elevator. how else did it know to come down? hhmmmm! something for all of us to think about there.

Wow - this has made a "new New Yorker" very homesick....

That's lovely. Really. And genius. I'm all for shutting down TV every night at midnight again. Might do us all some good.

There's a rather thorough Wikipedia entry about Goodnight Kiwi.
I was interested to learn that the song is an arrangement of "Hine e Hine".

The music is so very soothing.
Yeah, I thought that too. Almost disturbingly so ...
-
Back when I was growing up in the 8-bit era, my father bought a VCR just to record this clip. :)
-
See, its things like this that make YouTube so much fun. As soon as the music started playing it all came flooding back - mostly memories of once more having successfully stayed up too late :)

Out of curiousity as I am from a media saturated 24 hour tv childhood, what time did tv stop? Around 11pm?
