In the meantime, I will continue to get my news from around the world for free and focus on the bright side. I get to read the Guardian and the New York Times on-line while living in a lovely harbour city, instead of reading Stuff and the NZH on-line from my desk in London. It seems like a fair trade-off to me.

Agree also. The Dompost reflects nothing of our exciting beautiful city. The more tabloid it gets the more tired it becomes.

What a lovely, lovely post. I too, although an Aucklander born and bred, love Wellington to bits, and it has nothing to do with the restaurants or the theatres. I went to school there as a boarder, and it has always had a large part of my heart. The hills, the wind, the water, the city itself so compact. I even love coming in on the plane, swaying and bobbling around in the sky before coming to land on the runway that never seems as if it's going to be long enough.

If you want to see the latest newspapers of the world in full facsimile on line join the Wellington Public Library and with your library number you can log onto the Library's My Gateway (I think that's what it's called) through the city council website, and there is a new feature which gives you all the papers you could possibly want with all sorts of magnified features.
