  • Russell Brown,

    Metanui.

    Is that new?

    I like it.

  • Sacha,

I believe it is - though the principle is pretty well-established by now. Kind of like half-pai.

  • Mark Harris,

Would that mean that "being amused by Jake's page" is "metaroffle"?

  • Sacha,

    "being amused by Jake's page"

There's probably a word in Italian, French or German for that.

Jake..brill, just brill. Did I really opt out on page 1? I guess I did but some things just keep on giving.

  • Mark Harris,

Speaking of blogs, I have just posted about a new leaked document on Wikileaks which appears to be photographs of a draft of ACTA. They also have a transcription page up.

I can sidestep that by saying I was opting out of sub-threads, which I do, but overall this thing still holds some fascination. It's just those death spirals i can't deal with.

  • robbery,

    arguing on the Internet.

that bit hits the spot perfectly. the entertainment value recognised at last.

.....or in this case watching people(s) who don't do something or work in different fields, sit round telling people who aren't present how stupid said not present people and how they (people(s)) could do things better, without actually demonstrating the infallibility of their wisdom by putting these "clear as daylight" new methods into practice themselves and taking the easy money.

  • robbery,

who thinks that illegal downloading is theft and should be protected against through legislation and DRM,

    not true either

I don't criticize people for trying to do so and especially not on the grounds that my children have got used to breaking copyright law so we should make it legal.

But the heart of the battle is between Grigg and Mayes.

I don't think simon would agree with this either.

actually simon's and my main disagreement is on the relevance of how evil the majors are and the need to bring it up over and over especially in a climate of diversified distribution, particularly when simon has been on the non artist side of some pretty big music deals, which I think he did pretty well out of.

  • Danielle,

Robbery is now taking issue with Jake's commentary on his argument style by using the same masterfully annoying tactics Jake just analysed. Is this now called... MetaDeathSpiralNui?

    Head hurts. :)

  • Sam F,

    Like a record, natch.

I'm not claiming any coup of predictive powers - it was Russell who accurately detected the death spiral beginning; I just used in-thread evidence to make an educated guess. What amuses me most is being accused of trying to derail the thread with pointless discussion, and one page later seeing a giant post dedicated to the diversion in question.

Anyway I have no industry experience to support my opinions on this topic, even if anyone cared. I did buy an olde-fashioned CD today though, so do I get a spectators' pass for the next five months too?

The logic of the spiral is to drag everything down the plughole - and make everyone dizzy on the way.

Sam, you're a customer - the most important player in any industry. Emma will no doubt be here shortly to disabuse me of that notion..
