I'm not so much a vinyl lover as a music lover, but I digress... those 'shops were some of the best I've seen on the subject, at least they were until about 14 pages deep...
And I hope they don't change the museum too much. I don't go too often to be honest, but when I do, I love the sense of majesty and history the place has - there aren't many places you get that in NZ.

I didn't realise the Auckland Museum has a role as the National War Memorial. How does that sit with the National War Memorial in Wellington - http://www.nationalwarmemorial.govt.nz/ ??
Not nitpicking, just interested.
I would like the Auck Museum to do more with its NZ Land Wars resources than pack it all into a room smaller than my lounge.

Digitising vinyl is (theoretically) very easy. You could theoretically go to Dick Smith and buy a 2xRCA to 3.5m DIN plug adapter. You could then possibly plug the output from your turntable into the line-in port on any home computer with a sound card. You could potentially download the Audacity sound editing software and then it would not be un-imaginable to turn your percious vinyl into a series of iPod ready MP3s.

Huh. I'm not the only one who's noticed Duncan Garner, then. It's like he's taking lessons from Fox in how to present an opinion piece as an unbiased review.
I mean, I like opinion pieces, that's why I'm here for instance, I just expect to see them presented as such.

Many thanks for representing our views and providing an impression of the consultation meeting. Perhaps all is not lost.
Small point: Te Papa has a Magic Lilo and various other rides in its amusement arcade, but it doesn't have a ferris wheel. (Yes, I know you were kidding.)

you got ALL the kitsch-looking Hawaiian LPs? Damn. Still, I got a steel drum record yesterday with a killer version of Take Five for a buck. Oh yeah...
