Off to bed now, nothing to see here. ;-) -

Best tweet of the show:
As much as I support you in saying that New Zealand is shit, I still don't want the country to drown!
Runner-up:
Various paraphrased NZers:
Oh noes! A Tsunami. But wow, look at NZ trending!

I hope it doesn't become the basis on which threads are created around here :-)

And the TradeMe forums as well, Giovanni. That's amber alert, isn't it?
-
Not the Trade Me forums... May the Lord have mercy on us all!

It was fun to watch from Queen Street ...

My parents (I'm away in the UK) were full of "there's been an earthquake and tsunami in NZ".
-
The earthquake gave me an excuse to extol the wonders of Fiordland as a tourist destination to colleagues in London. Not that those doomed to be in Croydon really need much convincing that it is nice to travel
All publicity/natural disasters is/are good publicity right?

It's a very strange thing, when your house starts to rock and roll. And it just keeps going....as it strengthens, you head for the nearest doorway, and stand there, listening to an odd tapping noise, and thinking about the tile roof above you. Even after the shaking stops, your legs have a rubbery feel.....

The Geonet page for the 7.8 at 9.22pm is fun

I don't wanna be a twit either.

I loved the Invers CD confimation of the Tsunami, a 17cm Tsunami.
Loved it.

Just a very long gentle roll this far north, lasted more than a minute
Geonet was my first call but was crashing because of load
Knew somewhere they must have had a really big one
Fortunatly NZ got off lightly
Our old house is on a small fault line that runs parallel to the alpine fault and I pressume because of that quakes were proceeded by roar like a train coming through the middle of the house
Wasn't there last night -
It was fun to watch from Queen Street ...
Yeah, I bet. Waves crashing over the Sky Tower an' all that.

According to Facebook friends in Queenstown (I know, I know it's soooooo 07), they just had another jolt?
-
Friends on Brainwave were just telepathically conveying the same info... ops, I've said too much.

I did recommend a very effective brand of tinfoil here a while back. Isn't that what figments are for?

Yeah, I got that, you must be the Italian guy.

There was me thinking I didn't have much of an accent...

From Stuff
Greater Wellington Regional Council chairwoman Fran Wilde said it was fortunate the quake had occurred in a remote area as the damage would have been more severe if it had struck a major city.
Yeah, and if a spaceship had crashed into London...

You should hear it when it echoes around inside my head. Keep it down will you Gio?.
-
Damn, I posted in the wrong thread a moment ago. A 17-centimetre tsunami?
