Jesse James is the Government, all nice when he is giving you something, but not nice if you have to pay for it.

Reading now from the budget: Creative New Zealand gets an extra $7.1 million over the next four years, the Royal New Zealand Ballet an extra $3.4 million over the same period.

I expect the current government thinks of the visual arts as purely a commercial matter. Private galleries sell art to people of money. Why should the government interfere in a healthy market?
And so on.
