waay off topic. Just saw this post on Weibo reporting a tornado in west Auckland, 3 dead. I hope those of you in Auckland are safe.

Binders full of WOTY...

WOTD must be something to do with the on-line world---it's now ubiquitous and basically vital.
"www" (a word???...) - pages went from 2 billion to over 25 billion...
"pirates"
"privacy"
"IP" -- take your choice---as in address, or in the "legal" sense...
"download"
"broadband"
I must get out more...

Pleased to see OED chose Omnishambles as their WOTY, but hard to go past Dotcom.

Dunno. Here's what the Herald has to say. Scary reading.
Weather-bomb is an interesting word. When did that get coined? I don't remember seeing it much more than 3 or 4 years ago.

"Hacker", but only if used ironically or incorrectly.
"Breach".
"Social" as a noun.
"Monetize".

Jobs. Lost.

Isn't this like scrabble, we're not allowed to use proper names - that leaves out both "dotcom" and "jobs, lost"

For the decade "to google" as a verb. Even more ubiquitous than "blog".
Also "yeah yeah yeah" When did we start saying that in threes?
