We must have an alcohol study on the effects of consumption by socio economic status and health effects of depression with consumption of alcohol and other mental health issues?, because I was thinking, poor, depressed about that, drink to feel better, drown your sorrows, leads to more depression, leads to more drinking for those few moments of euphoria/ confidence (get in the car ,go for a spin, cops ,oh no ,had a few and will be pinged for no rego ,do a runner , bang! and then 1 more, leads to angry about your lot, leads to acting/ lashing out. Or hurt your family physically. Black outs follow. Wake up in the morning start again. One big circle. I am quite surprised by the amount of Vodka and Gin I see younger people drinking in wealthier areas. Not a beer or wine. Just hard liquor and lots of it before they head into town. I wonder what is the most sold booze in poorer areas?
But, if alcohol is readily available on most street corners then maybe, just maybe it takes the average suburbanite off the roads by enabling them to walk. I noticed this in Australia and the Uk. Street corners have pubs for locals which I think is better than outlets . Pubs tend to keep behaviour around consumption in check, and locals keep the community in check, leading to more responsible drinking.Jus' thinking out loud. Back to gardening, (doesn't it even sound better )

Sorry, I should say, if you tried as many regular gardening stores as they tried SOG stores.

Similar conclusions were drawn in the aftermath of Los Angeles '92.

It keeps many other circles going. Personal unhappiness, how to deal with it or profit from it. The latter seems to have the upper hand at present. And we've been at this for a while now, this living thing, and now sheer numbers gets in the way. Its too much for dullards like Key, Brownlee, Dunne, and even Shearer to come to grips with. But hey, they are just politicians, not really interested in consciousness. Just giving the appearance of caring for constituents.

I reckon if you walked into any gardening store in NZ and asked around enough you could meet a guy that'd sell you some seedlings..."
Too risky. You should see the looks staff give when one asks for tobacco seedlings!

They slavishly follow the Western reactive paradigm
- 'treat', or manage, the symptoms, never the causes...Staying hydrated, with a straight back and less environmental and psychic stress would go a long way towards getting rid of a lot of fear, ill health and rage...
Creating inclusive communities with informed and engaged members would quell the need for more police and ease stretched health services. -

You hydrated straight laced un-sedated community hugging weirdo - be honest you used to have long hair and sandals back in the day - and as the 70s rolled on you wore wallk socks and short stubbies.

Yep. But they also cant stand up to those rather well off, loud voices crying “WOLF” or the Chicken Little’s. I cant decide which one Greg O’Connor is tho’

HR. Nothing. More or less, depending on the weather.

This thread may be the least off topic for this.... There's something seriously wrong when the Children's Commissioner needs to say and the Herald needs to quote:
"It's hard to put a financial value on children receiving a Christmas present or seeing their dad."

There’s something seriously wrong when...
...The Minister of Justice apparently needs to be semi-comatose to deal with cabinet. On TV3 tonight she states:
"I couldn't in all consciousness, as the Minister of Justice, provide a report or recommendation to Cabinet that I did not believe would stand up to scrutiny"
True dinks!
She might try to get the words right, they are facts of a sort, and deliver meaning, especially when she witters on about the Canadian retired judge not having the facts right - but who supplied him with these facts - one must assume she or her minions did.I see the the watered down alcohol reform bill went thru tonight in front of an almost empty Parliament, were they all at Bellamys?
Knocking back the cocktail du jour The Judicious Collins (2 parts corn mash bourbon, 1 part bitter lemon, saccharine, 3 parts old boys club soda, - shaken with ice, strained and garnished with cherry and orange) quaff quickly and leave your consciousness behind... -

Supreme Court judge for over a decade - but naturally our Judith knows better

Collins has said the Canadian Judge Dude didn't understand NZ law - she is quite right.
Had the Canadian Judge Dude looked at say Erebus, Arthur Alan Thomas, Cave Creek he would have gained an understanding that when the government spend $400,000 on an independent judicial report or an opinion - they want the independent judicial report (the jiggery pokery) they are willing to pay for and not something that is all justicey and lawish..
Key has said on a range of matters – “it is just on legal opinion you can always get another.
Now Collins has to go get a QC to give her what she wants and she wanted it before Xmas too – she should just write out what she wants and get the QC to pad it out a bit.

Well bugger me!
SHE DID SAY THAT!
The mind, mouth connection points to a mess, or is there just a word salad inhabiting these people's brains.
Poor luvs (not really) answering all these questions, having to appear wise? Is it?
Well as amusing as it is, they are our leaders and appear to be a laughing stock.
Conformity never does sit well when assumed like a cloak. And of course all that matters is the want to be wealthy, oh yes, and happy just like everyone else.
Its what you do.
When your at the head of the queue.
Right?

That, they are indeed. Some of the most ignorant stupid people I know have the most monies. Why on Earth does that happen? Because they are selfish.

Can we get that decision to allow Key Inc to carry on with the Mighty River partial sale peer reviewed, too?
