As mentioned once or twice [aka only about a million times...], I'm not really a music festival sort of person, but I've heard this performance was one of the highlights?

Here’s a Google Streetview style photo sphere of the main stage area on Saturday morning. Bliss

Yay! Thank you for posting that.

Arabic patriarch and the seven of them my niqab-clad wives.
I'm inclined to say 'photo or it didn't happen', but then again it might by best left to the imagination. :-)
It does sound like a fun time, and the site looks awesome. I should go next year.

There are photos, but I am a bit wary of someone ripping an image out of context and starting a Twitter outrage. Which is a bit sad, but a reality.

"Splore is like a great wedding party: everyone’s basically family, but some people just haven’t met each other yet."
This!
Which makes The Cuban Brothers the world's greatest wedding DJs. From Whitney Houston to Gangstar and everything in between with everyone loving it.

isn't that the point of twitter?

Good call. Really does sound like fun all the same.

Ha. Just realised I mistakenly captioned that picture as the sunset.
It's not. It's the moonrise.

Bravo. You would have enjoyed the feeling at The Gathering..

Are we still talking about Russell’s pants?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind, the answer is blowin’ in the wind.

A nice Splore fashion gallery from the Herald.
Good on the Herald for being there.

Anyone have pics of the glowing Maori warrior roaming around on Saturday night?
Pure self interest in this request as I made the costume but sadly had to miss this years splore :(

Nick I didn't get a photo but stood next to him during the Cuban Brothers, and the costume was outstanding

So jealous. Reggae owes me money really arrived like a gunshot, takng dancehall/ragga to a whole new level. It was like reggae from outer space and I guess was referencing the underground stuff happening in London that would become breaks and jungle but at the time I'd never heard anything like it.
The first time I heard it would have been 1991(?) on a late night mid week show on Radio Active. I was down Cuba St the next day to grab my vinyl copy and it's been a treasured possession ever since. I think that Radio Active show played a tune off it every week for months. Good times.

I spent Saturday at the Waitati Music festival, (across the street from Metiria'a 'castle').
It's a nice laid back combination of country field day and music, kids, families, I got sun burned ......
Best thing I saw on the day was one time as a band started up a gaggle of teenage boys jumped in and started dancing together, eventually being joined by some girls - the world is changing in a good way and our kids have it in hand

My pleasure. I like that view from the lookout, we didn't get around to checking it out. What a place, and what lovely people
