Sure, you may argue that it was just for show, but appearance do mean something to people.
This looks like an suggestion for the Mayor of Auckland to use glass walls for his dressing and bathroom/toilet. Hence we found something sillier than the original HOS story.

I was hoping someone would say that. New Zealanders and their renovations - this could be the most contributed to thread in the history of PAS.
La Moyenne Bourgeoisie desire a different kind of buzz, It intrigues me how some "houses" in the "central city" of Auckland suffer from the fever to renovate.
A house in Ponsonby I know of has changed hands three times in five or so years and has had three kitchen/bathroom renovations - A Villa in Mt Eden that had rimu slat blinds - these were all taken out and replaced with a white synthetic heavy slat blind - the house lot of rimu blinds ended up in the bottom of a skip under the general debris.
It is en vogue to punch out the back of a villa or bungalow and replace a gentle lean to with a loud "beach style" extension - often tasteless an impractical particularly so if the arse end of the house is facing south.
As long as the ppty market defys gravity and the banks are lending there is no cure.
