  • Riddley Walker,

Finn: thanks for the informative breakdown of the likely costs of printing.

I wouldn't want to support an organisation like that in any way

and with that, thanks Malcolm for the list of companies to lobby and boycott. Disgusted by Investishite? Then get serious and let these advertisers know it.

  • stephen walker,

well, i've never clapped eyes on Investigate magazine in my life, so just imagining what it looks like is pretty creepy.

But that list of advertisers is an eye-opener. What are these companies thinking? To be directly funding this muck is pretty sad indeed. As the pink ginnea pig said, a bit of letter-writing might not be a bad idea...

  • Nobody Important,

you're making this into a Lebanese conspiracy

No. I don't think he was. He was saying he was in a Lebanese restaurant and they had a copy of Investigate for diners to read. He thought it odd that a magaizne implying a Middle Eastern terrorist threat would be available in a Lebanese restaurant.

What's the only thing better than killing someone? Leaving them behind to face a mulitple murder rap

Oh, so Dad was that derranged was he? Did he have a maniacal laugh, like The Riddler on Batman?

A not guilty verdict is not innocence, as much as some of us would like it to be.

True. Talkback is full of callers who say that being found 'Not Guilty' doesn't mean you didn't do it, just that it couldn't be proved you did it. These are usually the same people who think the Police wouldn't charge somebody unless they'd done something.
My original point was that many ppl feel Bain now deserves to be compensated for his 12+ years in prison. I do too (if he's not guilty), but it would be wrong to compensate him without having another trial to establish whether he was guilty or not guilty. If he is found not guilty then clearly it was wrong to incarcerate him, so he should be compensated for his wrongful incarceration. At which time someone will argue that the Justice system ran its course and did its job and he shouldn't be compensated because there was no maleficience.

thanks Malcolm for the list of companies to lobby and boycott. Disgusted by Investishite? Then get serious and let these advertisers know it.

Yeah, a tactic very popular with Right Wing Fundamentalists in the US. And if that doesn't work why don't we picket the outlets that sell it. And if that doesn't work why don't we all put on red balaclavas and bum-rush the magazine racks. And if that doesn't work why don't we all put on red balaclavas and bum-rush Ian Wishart and tie him to a tree and tickle him till he cries? [Yes, I'm being sarcastic, lest the rightwingnuts accuse me of inciting something]

  • Che Tibby,

i just thought the mag in a lebanese restaurant was a delightful irony.

would have been funnier if it had a prominent pro-zionist article.

why? because it would suggest that the "reread" stats are bullshit.

    and..

why don't we all put on red balaclavas and bum-rush Ian Wishart and tie him to a tree and tickle him till he cries?

umm, if you're suggesting a posse?

i'm in. again, for the laughs.

  • Anne M,

Why kill the whole family but spare David? What did he do to deserve leniency?

Maybe whoever did it (assuming it wasn't David - Robin, passing psychotic, disgruntled former client/pupil) didn't put a whole lot of planning into the initial decision to go and kill them and forgot that one person would be out? Are most mass-murder rampages carefully planned?

  • John Farrell,

Here's an interesting coincidence....Idour is a Lebanese name. Please note, Malcolm, that I am not seeking to impugne Lebanese, but to impart information.

  • dad4justice,

Hell bells Russell the latest statement posted on Wish’s blog is yet another police terrorised lady and more than disturbing reading, death threats by old Milton and his bullyboy thugs. I suppose we are lucky for investigate mag and Ian Wishart exposing all this corruption, as the exposure makes a mob movie tame in comparison. I suggest the extortion from sinister pigs is more of a greater concern than a bunch of loud , obnoxious and pissed up bent cops copulating with Mrs Palmer while watch a mental retard deal to a chicken .

The real issue is this widespread corruption within our judiciary and police so entrenched it cannot ever be effectively dealt with? Every day it seems to be getting worse but the politicians tell us we live in utopia? No doubt your tolerance will run out as thats how you deal with a problem , buts thats your prerogative , some opinions hurt the cause -eh bro ? Yeah right !

You still here, dad? Did you brag on Wishart's blog about posting this on here?

I can't help that I have a strong social conscience who goes to bat for the underdog , I don't mean to cause friction ,however some times it is unaviodable .
Remember that it was only yesterday that I was called Stan Graham , so give me a chance to reload at the ready . Good bye and do have a good day .

  • Che Tibby,

Are most mass-murder rampages carefully planned?

che <--- has watched csi. the answer to you question is, "only if they're professional hits. by a police detective for example..."

che <--- is attempting to match d4j in the conspiracy steaks.

che <--- also likes his steaks blue. notably, the colour of the film shown by idour at the party in question.

    COINCIDENCE?! perhaps not...

  • John Farrell,

An interesting view you have of the world, dad....a sort of inverse elitism. Those, like you, with the least to say, can use the most words to say it?

  • dad4justice,

Che Tibby - the smacking saga is a grey area smoke screen that will add to judicial corruption from cops and cyfs . Its time to remove your head from the sand . High Court Justice Hansen said the LAW needs a radical RETHINK , however the government is more than happy to add smacking to the endless list of tools used in the adversarial legal system ?

Its does not make sense to me ?

  • Riddley Walker,

    inverse elitism = redneck populism

(see Truth, Sunday News, Investigate) of course that kind of populism actually only pretends to be anti-elitist though.
you don't see them attacking those with serious entrenched structural power (who are usually their owners). the targets are invariably leftist pinkos who stick up for the rights of women, children, non-heteros, that sort of thing.

  • John Farrell,

Dad's posts, especially in other places, do tend to be the distilled essence of the turgid rubbish posted on rightwing blogs. Those cliches flow from his fingers.

Who'd have thought Bain would age to look like Dick Hubbard?

None but the Good Lord JF, the Good Lord.
and perhaps associated rightwing fundamentalists who employ the same PIs, but who knows? He will be protecting his sauces.

[You do get that I was joking right?]
I was more thinking along the lines of Sideshow Bob, but he also has a maniacal laugh.

Do you really believe that? That some stranger walked into the house, conveniently while David was on his paper run, knew where to find the gun and ammunition and some opera gloves, committed mass murder, did some of Robin's washing, and then logged onto a computer to say that David deserved to stay? No, the killer is either David or Robin. Not even the Joe Karam or Bain's lawyer has suggested that somebody else is the killer.

  • rodgerd,

The thing I find wierdest is that there are three high-profile cases around the same time that people thought looked more than a little odd: Ellis, Bain, and Watson. Of those the Ellis prosecution seemed most credible; Ellis and Watson the least - Watson seemed like a play-by-play replay of the Arthur Allen Thomas case, and Ellis seemed like a textbook mix of Christian nuts (the officer who went on Holmes), gay panic, and satanic ritual abuse mixing in the most toxic fashion.

Yet all this time later it's the Bain case that gets thrown out. Funny old world.

Or perhaps, Riddley, Wishart will be discovered one day, having the appearance of being struck by lightning, and there will be a sudden increase in the number of believers.
