Without the violence of course.
But bull-fighting, like boxing, is only interesting to people because someone/thing is going to get hurt.
Might I suggest as an alternative for those squeamish about such matters, that we organise a troup of morris dancers to dance up and down the pitch during each innings break. That might aid in creating footmarks for the bowlers to aim at.

Morris dancers way too light to do the damage I’ve got in mind.
Rodeo?

Monster trucks

Saturday is indeed PAS day.
Damn, I won't be in town until after 5.
I'm in the process of organising post-cricket drinks (most likely with Epic at the Malthouse). If you can make that it'd be good.
But that makes it all better!

If it's possible for a chasing team to get the big score in the 4th innings, surely that's good for the game.
Well, not really, in my opinion. Mammoth chases should be exceptional.
In the three innings that precede the fourth, the team batting last tries to minimise their chase target, with the team batting first trying to maximise that target (allowing for time remaining). It shouldn't all come down to the last day, which would be the case if it is too easy to bat on the last day.

Ice hockey!

Hang on, there's no ice rink in Welly yet. Then again, inline skates are probably the closest match.

Who decides whether to doctor the pitch?
Well my suggestion was that the rules decide it. If the two innings finish within a day and a half they go one way, if they take over 3 days they go the other.
What if it doesn't work? (pitch preparation is an inexact science, after all)
Then nothing is lost.
What's to stop a groundsman putting a little extra water on the pitch in return for a wad of cash from a bookmaker who wants a particular result?
What's to stop that now before the test starts?

One of the best afternoon's cricket watching I ever had was at a mate's place in Blenheim, my first ever visit having just arrived. It was a stinking hot day and we managed to get through a box each of Canterbury draught (shudder) watching Nathan Astle and Danny Morrison deny the English at (I think) Lancaster Park/Jade Stadium.....fantastic afternoon!

You don't often hear the words 'Canterbury Draught' and 'fantastic afternoon' in the same sentence.
