Field Theory: Consuming my time

I remember when I was at school, there was some kind of "careers day" where we picked three companies and got given a tour of their workplace.
One of my picks was Consumer, because hey, they do interesting stuff.
I later learned that Consumer was an unpopular choice, and most of my classmates had gone to visit law firms or accounting firms. Sigh.
(visiting Consumer wasn't quite as interesting as visiting IRL, though, where we met the guy who was a connoisseur of lion urine)

Congratulations! And may I point out that while Consumer is private, it is a very august public institution. You're a public servant still, albeit in a different disguise.

The public sector does have it's charms and it's downsides
As a professional writer, it should only take a few seconds to sort out the difference between "its" and "it's".
And am looking forward to reading your contributions.

I work in the public sector and use Chrome shhhhh....

I used to use Firefox with a bunch of nifty extensions. It lead to questions of how I could view pages that others in the office couldn't.

Now it's this sort of subversive behaviour in the public sector that got us into all this trouble. Well, probably not.
Congrats'. We subscribe, so looking forward to some insights into gadgetry. Apparently Heat Pumps are sexy at the moment...

Congrats. Is that a picture of you on the ride on mower on the consumer homepage?

Yeah working for a small government department that hardly anyone knows about has its perks

The old "IT use a proxy for IE, but FF goes through directly so they've no idea how much, where or what I do on the internet" discovery...
Next: How to install a firewall on your local machine so they can't probe to see what non-standard apps you have installed...

Jo S,
Congrats Hadyn, that sounds like a really fun job. Now my techie friend (who reads Consumer avidly) will know who to have his mental disagreements with ...
(hmm you could take that a couple of ways ... internal disagreements, nope that's worse).
-
Oi. I've just had a look at their Website and there is no Technology section!
You're really unemployed aren't you Hadyn?

Do us a favour then and just ditch the apostrophes altogether - you'll be right more often (and it'd be less annoying to spelling geeks)...
-
But then, hopefully you still have subs at Consumer!

[hands head in shame] yes. Of course there is an Electronics section.

Cheeky! However, each issue does contain a number of photos of the staff. I think this month there's four or five.
