Nice work. Is that a little Nathan Haines in the background?

That must have hurt.

Yeah. Those thorns. ;-)

Not at all. I have so much nerve damage on my left side from the stroke and I did them to encourage some feeling back . I think it helped a bit. But wasn't painful. That tat photo was just after the Gloriosa rothschildiana was done in the foreground. It was still a bit swollen. I got quite a few more after that :)

Gravity sucks...
TV3 blew their 'Live' building demolition coverage - first they were saying it was going to be live on TV3 - not the actual Television though! Their streaming was so so sluggish it missed the actual demo - I had them and TV1 side by side on the computer - TV1 was great, caught the whole thing, TV3 went from a standing pic frame to the dust coming up from where it hit the ground, no collapse sequence at all... Mr Loiseaux can we go again?
Wasn't quite of WTC7 proportions - smaller footprint and 30 less storeys, no pyroclastic-like clouds of dust smothering the city, meh! -

some rainy Saturday photos from today
Some great shots in there Jos. You're getting good at these little photo-movies. Must give it a try.

I saw a few people running from the cloud in the TV One coverage all the same. I was wondering if they were familiar with the term 'down wind'. Looking forward to some HD footage on the news. Hopefully someone got lots of angles.

Press had good pix but video fail: it’s still not up. Flu for me and the warnings made my three reluctantly stay home. The feeds were so screwy that we heard the thump, thump in St Martins before the video came through then it seized. Bugger! Three mutinous males in the house.
Don’t Cera et al understand PR and how to get the citizens on side? As for the Press video crew, why don’t they git an iPhone for the first cut of something like this? Techie fail.Just found a good one, that shows the gleeful crowd:

Ta.
The Press has done an excellent ongoing job of the earthquakes, especially since Feb 22 last year. I was stunned and grateful on Feb 23 when all our essential services (including the escape-route bridges) were down to find the Press on the drive. For two weeks we had no telecoms apart from cellphones that had to be conserved for worst-case scenarios; for a week no power, so old media was essential.BUT The Press still has not adapted to the possibilities of technology, and to the fact that print is not the authority any more. The number of times I read in the paper about someone or a company and mentioning a website but not giving the actual link is dismaying. I don't know the present policy, whether it's just not good copy-tasting, or whether there is still the idea of not mentioning the competition, but they need to get over it. It's off-putting to me -- and I'm a comparative tech dinosaur.
And the videos are delayed. Why not immediate? From my understanding an iPhone will film, and upload in seconds. It's the now-ness not the definition that makes news that's watched.

Hebe,
Bugger. One of the chooks died of fright at the explosion. Bluebell was a nervous girl from the start. The two whumps and thumps were loud and "felt" as well as heard here.

And this?
Seriously becoming a blinkandmissit town eh? Do you think there will be any monuments(a la ancient Greece) or will it all be swiped away from the memories of all Cantabrians.I guess that memorial plaque will be it.

Good px Gudrun. Those guys standing up on the remains of the Westpac tower are tough.
As for Bluebell, looks like she could be a media star -- details and a photo requested from Greg. You read it here first! -

Nice to see all those smiling faces! And I also love the one of Gloucester Street full of lego-people. Thanks for taking these, Gudrun.
