Just to show the folks in Welly and #chch that it hasn't rained the whole day in Auckland today. Lovely walk on Pt Chev beach after a game of iPad scrabble. Turkey and spuds in the oven now.
It's a scorcher in Welly right now. Just as well I came prepared with a few grape Fanta spiders.

Yesterday it rained in Waipara, and I did something I've been meaning to do for some time - hooked up my old Nikon slide scanner, upgraded VueScan, and played with a few images from the box of slides that has remained more or less untouched for a couple of decades. It's interesting how much more "discoverable" images are in the digital age.
Most of the images are of interest only to the people involved, but there are some I'm very happy with. Here's a picture of my friend Jenny, from the late 70s. Taken in Dulwich, London.
