Righto. There’s been a few Flying Nun tributes and ruminations going on over this month, and hasn’t it been great? I’m off to see Fetus Productions tonight. Amazing.
We’ve been so thrilled with the response to Capture so far, that on the way home last night I stopped in at Musiquarium on Dominion Road and grabbed a couple of CDs to give away.
Knowing Russell is also doing this, I figure there are probably more than three people out there who would like the Flying Nun Tally Ho compilation, so we’ll be giving away two more.
These will go to;
1) The best photo contribution in the first week of Capture.
2) The best photo or story on this Flying Nun post by Jonathan.Judges’ decisions will be arbitrary, bribes will be taken, and the winners will be announced next Tuesday on our one week anniversary.

Still one of the best live bands in the world, and great fun to shoot.

A fat gut in a studded belt
I believe the word there isn't "gut" but something stronger.
Still, you've probably saved WebMarshal filters the length of the country from blowing up by not using that particular word in the first line of the post.

Not only that, but I wanted to send the link to my Mum! Anyway, I transcribed from the lyrics on the sleeve of ‘Cut It Out’. It’s funny though, from my Auckland-centric point of view I had thought that ‘Needles & Plastic was about the Doublehappys visiting Zanzibar in Fort St. However Shayne’s excellent article in the recent Sunday magazine made it clear it was about a Christchurch club, which I think was also called Zanzibar.

Thanks Robyn. An almost identical shot was published in BiFiM where the band were all looking at the camera but the negative is lost.

Thanks Ian, I hope to. Feeling very encouraged now. I was looking at an online book published by Blurb recently and thinking what great quality it was.

Damn microphones!
It is possible to get a great shot of someone singing, but often it looks weird, or the microphone is poking out the eye or slicing the face in half.

Great, so not only do we have to tell our mums how to vote (HT Gio T), now we also have to tell them not to read the comments on our blog. It's a hard road being the perfec' son.
This photo has done the rounds a bit, but I kind of like it. Being the nerd that I am, I asked if they minded. Jon said 'Until you asked, no.' I took it anyway.

The Sex Pistols' Silly Thing was originally Silly Cunt but they wanted it played on radio. Changing the noun when singing along makes the tune sound so much righter.
