  • Islander, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

While there has been some adaptaion, there are still a lot of dead grey trees in South Westland.

    They were rata.

I hate the damage possums do.
I hate, much more, the haw-haw people who introduced them.
I can only try & get rid of one lot.

Sofie- another option is a Timms Trap?

They skin avocados too but they leave you the skin.

And kick the stones around on the roof obviously.

We have the yellow box one and a neighbour has designed a humane way to catch them. He never came over after an invite but. Once we get up there permanent we will sort it out. I promise the world!

So lucky, staying at an Inn in Nevada City CA and there are cats here. Not only cats - one of them is still a kitten. What could be better?
And for the dog lovers, there is a dachsund too.

  • Jos,

Yay for dachshunds, specially the short haired tan ones!

I'm not a great fan of cats, and have no idea if this particular cat likes cameras or not, but I was quite interested in how much this cat likes furrows.

  • Nora Leggs, in reply to Chris Waugh,

Nice furrows! Maybe the cat thinks he can't be seen. Maybe he is waiting for his food to grow? Maybe it is just a variation on cat's favourite occupation - sitting in boxes.

Cute cat with his nose splodges.

  • Hebe, in reply to Chris Waugh,

The wind sweeps over top of the cat so it is warmer - and tidier - to sit in the furrow rather than on the peak. My cats think elegant sitting and sleeping should be Olympic sports.

Plant your root veges in the mounds so they get warmth from the sun, and your cats in the furrows for extra cosiness. Companion planting!

Just remember not to earth up the cats!

  • Lilith __,

Some advice from my cat: anyone tries to x-ray you, pee on them.

Just had a phonecall from my well-watered vet.
