  • Voting Local 2010,

Just had a chat with a friend who works for Waitakere City Council and she recommends Penny Hulse (the current deputy mayor for WCC) in a big way for one of the Waitakere Councillors.

This is certainly worse than Carter and Jones, by a big margin.

    That's a relief!

Is this worse than Carter? Jones? Nup.

To you Kyle maybe, but to the family of that child this is far worse. Now they are reliving their grief all over again, and still have no apology from that man. And he lied in court.

I just can't stop thinking about how awful this must be for the poor parents and family of the child - I cannot imagine the horror of losing a little one like that, and then to have to have to reawaken the grief when you find out his identity was stolen.

Now this - with Garrett saying it was a prank. Where is the respect for the family? Tragic. So many wounds reopened, just because of this nasty man.

  • Stories: Famous blue raincoats, etc,

In 7th form I got a pair of brown flares from my Opa with a matching suit jacket that I didn't usually wear. I wore the hell out of them for the next two years which amused him greatly

I used to wear old-man pyjama bottoms to school as trou in 6th form (much to the annoyance of my trying-to-be-cool 3rd former sister), but my favorite outfit of all time was a bright yellow 50s sundress that I found at the Sally Army store on Vic Street, Auckland, all those years ago, and I would wear it with my mum's old puffy out petticoats. Sadly lost the dress moving flats years later *sigh*. Hard to find those 50s relics now.

  • Speaker: John Roughan is Scared,

Here is where I do my semi-regular rant about poor Cookie Monster now being forced to sing 'cookies are a sometimes food'. He's fucking COOKIE MONSTER.

Oh no! Don't tell me that. I loved him and Orinoco because of their excess - what a way to spoil it.

  • Speaker: John Roughan is Scared,

I bags the cookie monster - what a life.

Japan does some things that would be great to see here (but I'd not import the little men with the white gloves squeezing you into the train in the morning, or the sake-stinking salarymen who fall asleep on you on the trip home at night).

Instead of getting parking with your job, you got a monthly PT pass from home to work as part of your package (of course you need to have PT that is convenient). And the other thing is that retail opens and closes a bit later - you don't see shops opening until 10 or later, and they shut at anytime from 6-8 on a normal night. It is so frustrating that shops (except supermarkets and The Warehouse) shut at 5. Doesn't make any sense at all - and all those people working there are stuck in rush hour traffic as well.

  • Hard News: Blog About Cat,

About American cats - they do have predators there - coyotes, mountain lions, eagles, hawks - that can kill outside cats, that is part of the indoor cat reason. My hubby had 3 indoor cats in Washington State (big house so lots of room to play), sadly one got out and was never seen again.

We apartment- and cat-sat in Seattle in a one bedroom apartment - and with a 9 month old Abyssinian called Habibi. Made me very sad she couldn't go outside, it was all she wanted to do. She would throw herself at the window screens when she saw passing birds. I felt mean keeping her inside, so I would take her out to play in the apartment building corridor.

Now we have a big ginger tom who used to bring in rats, play with them under my bed,and end up eating the whole thing except parts of the innards, but now he has mellowed into middle age by sleeping lots and being a lap cat. He likes company and just to hang out with whoever is home.

  • Island Life: Anyone can do design.,

I don't mind the winner, it looks OK. Which is much better than 'yuck'.

I quite liked Weston Frizzell's logo:
