  • Hard News: The Flashing Question Mark,

Russell someone told me you had Aspergers Syndrome or you had some passion for those with it - is that true?

My son has Aspergers and I just wrote a blog on it and the bullying he has faced as a result of it and someone said that you knew something of the support agencies out there.

Since my son's diagnosis 5 years ago we tried many times to get in touch with support groups (we were in dunedin) but my many emails and phone calls to the numbers I was given were never answered. I gave up.

Now we are in Auckland I wondered if I should try again but where do I start?

  • Hard News: From soundbite to policy,

"Watch out parents of kids with autism - they will be open to prosecution if their kids can't cope with all the stress of school and refuse to go."

This one bothered me too, I have a child with Aspergers syndrome and it is often necessary to pull him from school for reasons like the above, to homeschool him for a week or few days and then get him back in.

  • Busytown: I believe in miracles,

America's desperateness to be accepted by the world, to send a message about how far they have come got in the way of doing what was right and making the best choice for the country.

    Sad.

  • Hard News: Deadly Exuberance,

Shopocaplypse is a bit of a moutful isn't it? Shocalypse or shopalypse are a lot easier to say.

It is pretty telling about our value system that these things happen.

  • Hard News: Loving your dog and owning…,

The hysteria that surrounds anyone daring to make any criticism, no matter how slight, of the sacred cow of gay rights is outlined in Homosexuality and the Right-Wing Socialists.

I am still not sure if video was a ridiculous smear campaign or simply evidence of the majority not being able to reason. In Fisking Grant Robertson we walk the confused through the video. Stop by, especially if you think what Franks said was in any way homophobic.

  • Speaker: Objects to Remember With,

I can so relate to that. We were deeply struck by the strenght of emotion attached to the most seemingly incidental objects when we packed up the home of a dear family member recently.
