  • Random Play: Fiji #2: The Times, they…,

No problems for Newsbear Rupert, as in the past he'll just renounce his citizenship (American at the moment I think) and move to Fiji, though I guess Wendy would object to him marrying a local... but I'm sure he'll be pushing his Chinese connections to pressure the Fiji powers-that-be who seem to be getting a lot of help from China lately...

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

I think we should force him to dress up
    in a panda costume

and that'll pander to the errant sportsman stereotype, a little wham bam (thank you ma'am),
a little "boo", then eats roots and leaves
(or was that kiwis in general...?)

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

"I don't think what you should be doing in life as a young woman is putting yourself at risk which is what they were doing."

    (from Stuff article)

gosh, will Mr Haden elaborate on his experience
    as a young woman...
and he seems to have a confused memory
    of the "Hugh Grant affair"...

I thought Ost-racism was what Kevin Rudd apologised to the Aborigines for...

but seriously, I hear Coventry is nice this
time of year, let's send Haden there...
    what a prize pillock!

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

    just the facts, ma'am...
I'm wondering what the RWC company (is there such a thing?, ie not the Govt interventionists) is bringing to the "party"?
    • are they having a separate information centre for visitors or is their presence limited to the stadiums only ?
    • is this "party central" venue purely a game time only affair? or is it doubling as an all day and night display and info site as well?

  • Busytown: A Thought Went Up My Mind,

Cecelia, I love that Brain poem! inspirational stuff...
and Chris your soaring 3rd stanza should be
in all future iterations of it...
I'm gonna push Phantom to see if they
can get the rights to reproduce the poem
(maybe as a mash up with Chris' addition
and permission) to be put up around NZ and other places
(pix - and blog - of kiwi & US poets on poles in Pennsylvania and other global spotshere )
and ta to Chris and Jolisa for kind comments re my humble attempts over on the "PC head hurt" thread

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

White light to wide eyed light...

Fscking rainbows, how do they work?

archly they set arrows of white light aquiver
refracting drop by drop a spectral bow wave

infrared to ultraviolet and betwixt withal
Bifrost spans Asgard to Midgard infradig

    but mostly they are magic
    foam on particulate waves

    viscerally vibrating
    optickling allusions

    reminding us
    we are light

    we are
    water

    plus
    dust

    Oh, you said huge anchors!

it'll be a fluke if McCully can get anything solidly bedded before 2011...

    Life gnaws anchors away...
what with the new knife laws, shanks and other barbs will be illegal by then anyway...

    I think I'll heave, too...

    Not the fool squid...

I say give Paul the Octopus a hammer or eight and let him fix the shed.

hmmm Auckland - eight arms to hold you (a party) - we should move the goon squad at full force and hip hop over to Princess Wharf surely!
    eh Simon G?

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

    Parity Central...
all things being even and fair...
I personally think any council run public RWC areas should be family friendly and alcohol free... leaving a "level playing field" for the rate and licence paying hospitality industry...
otherwise it sends a mixed message to the public about the seemingly parasitic attachment of alcohol consumption to sports events...

won't anyone think of the kids!
and stop pandering to the booze barons!

I note the Chch RWC space in the square is proposing to have booze areas - Bad idea from a council that is (allegedly) trying to deal with the problems of inner city drinking as it is...
    - weird stuff, and these are the decisions of adults!!

It would just be so impressive to see one of them make a family-friendly space, those who want alcohol will make other arrangements...

and doesn't McCully come across as a petulant brat? The Govt should never have poked its nose into the Auckland affair any way, they are not event organisers, there are more important things for them to be getting on with you'd think...
