  • Hard News: Moving targets,

Karma. I remember the endless onslaught visited on Winston Peters and on Phillip Field and others and in each case it was before any case was proven. Natural justice? Innocent till proven guilty? But now Mr Key is asking for Natural justice and lets wait till proof is forthcoming. Huh!

  • Hard News: Moving targets,

Transparency works then. What? Only because Pete looked hard. Oh.
Never mind. John Key acted promptly and decisively in removing Pansy from her Ministerial posts. What? She resigned! Oh.
Well John Key acted promptly to get perks banished. What? He can't do it himself. That's Lockwood's job. But what about the PM's image?
And you mean that Pansy will get her 75% travel perks and so will Sammy - for ever? Bummer!
Well how about some Law reform?

"Then walking to school through the snow, he became so hungry that he had to eat his own homework."

Now David. Was this story autobiographical? It was his maths.

  • Southerly: At Last, David Haywood's 2010…,

Last week on Jim Moira's show he read the returns that musicians appear to get from music sales. Seems that on the sales and costs, for every $1000, the musician gets $23. Hard to verify.

  • Hard News: Yet More Hobbit,

Does this mean that Peter Jackson's "tirade" against the Aussie Union might well have been well founded?

  • Random Play: This land is your land . . .,

On a recent trip to Scotland, Iceland, Sri Lanka, UAE we kept on saying this could just as easily have been in various places in New Zealand. Sure the building practices varied but the people were the same. Different language, different social habits but really the same in the end. So the film industry is a great asset for NZ but economics speak a much louder international language. I don't think that Peter Jackson is doing any more than stating a reality, without any malice. Watch out Actors Equity!

  • Legal Beagle: STV Q&A,

In the 90s my first choice was MMP.
    Second choice STV.
    A distant last was FPP.
I imagine that computers would make short work of sorting the priorities in STV but MMP with a few tinkerings would be great.

  • Hard News: The GST Punt,

If it contains the seed it is a fruit like tomatoes, peas, peanuts.
If it is the other parts that you eat its a vegetable. Potatoes?

Tom: I still think a little greater income tax would help more in Education, Health, Security. A survey a year or so ago showed a significant proportion of the population agreed with this. But like Law and Order its a difficult thing to sell moderation.
