  • Hard News: Essay Question,

I'm sorry. I've been out of the country a few weeks and may have missed something. Can I ask, has Bill Ralston gone mad? Or, as they say here in London, stark raving bonkers?

I suppose democracy has always been a little tedious for, you know, dictators.

    What a dolt.

  • Southerly: Busytown,

Here in the UK my brother sat me down and made me watch a number of Flight of the Conchords episodes (yep, I have to travel 1/2 way round the world to catch up with kiwi culture and yep, those boys have done good, haven't they?).

"Oh, so it's an Australian accent."

But doesn't she know, we say "caar" and they say "cahar"? Did you get Bob to flip her the bird?

It happens going from one page to the next - like p2 to p3 - and it only started yesterday.

Has someone bought a load balancer?

Sigh. Russell can you please get your Cactus folk to fix whatever is logging me out today every now and then when I go from one page to another (without having altered a single setting or upgraded any components at my end).

I suspect this has to do with how cookies are being handled.

If you have bookmarked PA without www. as an appendix and login to PA system it remembers you as being associated with that URL only. BUT, if you browse to and article from PA System the "www" gets added to the URL and the login association is lost.

This is a bug in PAs configuration.

even if she was to some extent fronting the policy opinions of MED lawyers.

Last week, at an MED "workshop" on ACTA and other IP crimes I was totally when in the same breath an MED official spoke about terrorists, arms traders, organised drug traders and... digital copyright piracy. I am still trying to think about how to best write up one of the most disappointing afternoons I have spent in many a year.

Really, what hope did Tizard have in the face of this kind of policy "analysis".

Like Russell, I wish her all the best.

    John Howard

If we ever get anywhere close to electing someone like him more than once I would leave, but not for Australia.

Jesus Craig, calm down. Your side won. Chill out for a couple of days until the losers have got some stuff off their chests. Your blood pressure will thank you for it.

  • Island Life: What I saw at the product launch,

By the way, there seems to be an awful lot of mourning on this site. I think that's unfortunate.

A celebration of the last 9 years would seem to be in order along with an appreciation of what it has been like living under the influence of one of the world's better leaders in a while, Helen Clark.

A celebration of democracy might also be in order. Thems the breaks folks, better a change in government at the ballot box than the end of a gun. If it *never* happens then a huge section of society would get alienated and ultimately disenfranchised. I've said before, NZ is pretty blessed with its politicians across the spectrum. Don't be afraid.

Finally a dig at Danyl for his very dour and bitter DimPost post. The last three years politics are the result of the price Labour paid to keep Don Brash's hands off the treasury benches. I don't think they had much choice in the way they managed things. Those three years may turn out to be invaluable to the progress NZ has made over the last 15 years.
