  • Hard News: The Arguments,

Why is it that all of the pro-belting fanatics appear to have had something to do with the late unlamented CHP in the past?

SPCS: run by Mike Petrus, ex-CHP Kapiti candidate

Reformation Testimony: Garnet Milne, ex-CHP candidate for Yaldhurst (ChCh)

CYFS Watch: I suspect this has a lot to do with the former rightwing parents group Parents Against Injustice...

Family Integrity: Craig and Barbara Smith's defunct Homeschoolers Assn journal Keystone once asked its kids to do essays on why the death penalty works and carried a CHP advert.

Apart from Family First and the Maxim Institute, these people seem to be the worst of Brand XXX fundies...

  • Hard News: Nasty mixtures,

I don't believe this. Party Pills should be regulated more stringently, not labelled Class C and prohibited, which will make adulteration easier, not more difficult.

And meanwhile, we learn that there were 218 P lab busts next year. Hello? P is a Class A drug, and deservedly so. Why are we wasting our time on this when something that deadly, highly addictive and toxic is out there?!

Look at this chilling doco from PBS' highly regarded Frontline series:

  • Hard News: Copywrong,

I find it fascinating, though, that even as Tory media hacks try to paint Nicky as a conspiracy theorist, the volumes in question are still heading off shelves, and there has already been perceptible damage to National's opinion poll ratings. Bassett and hacks like Jane Clifton can whine and stamp their collective feet petulantly as much as they like. Nicky has made a sober, evidence-based evaluation of the facts at hand, and has contributed to the good health of democratic accountability and representation in this country.

Incidentally, Russki, is there going to be a future column about political donor reform from your corner? I'm working on one right now.

  • Hard News: Doing the Rounds,

    Incidentally, what _have_ the Nats
    done with Judith Collins? Normally
you can't get her to shut up.

    But now...

Thinks: wonder if Collins could withstand a
    co-ordinated onslaught against New Right
    anti-welfare policies...?

And having checked Scoop, yup, Worth is
now only an associate shadow, which seems
to be an indication that Key has recognised
his talentless droneship. Pity one can't say the
same about co-drone and social conservative
apparatchik Judith Collins. Why is she ranked
above Katherine Rich, who is a far better
    politician?

To change the subject to one close...
    the newish Shadow Cabinet.

Getting rid of the stupid PC Eradicator role---- Yes!
Dumping that talentless drone, Richard Worth....Yes!!!
    Promoting Katherine Rich...Well, Yes.

    but...

Maintaining that other talentless bore, Judith Collins....No.
Elevating Chester Borrows, another boring godbot.....No
    Maintaining National's dire hardline anti-welfare
    and anti-union policies................................ NO WAY!!!

    Five out of ten, John.

  • Hard News: Maxim-ising the vote,

Getting things belatedly back on topic, can I gauge the
response to scuttlebut from the Beltway that came my
way when I bumped into my friend the Tory Faghag* coming
out of Unity with her copy of THM recently?

"Oooh Craig. Did you hear the rumours? CIS is about to
    eat the Maxim Institute."
"Wouldn't it get stuck in its throat?"
"No, seriously. There's a lot of corporate sock cons that
want to rationalise their revenue streams on just one
    organisation..."
"Hmm. Makes sense. Do you have anything concrete to
    feed me on it."
"I gather it's at the discussion stage, but..."
"Tell you what, I'll float the balloon, and clearly mark it as 'rumour and hearsay.' Get back to me if you do have anything more definite. Thanks, [TFH]. I owe you on that."

    Craig Y.

*TFH lives in Epsom, detests Richard Worthless, and voted ACT because she was pissed off at the Nats for their sockconnery last term.

  • Hard News: Of course it's about the book,

I have a suggestion for Part II of Paul Goldsmith's Brash hagiography: "The Donald: From Don Juan to Don Gone"
(in Three Easy Steps Off the Plank.)
