  • Hard News: The newest neocon catastrophe,

The world is not a Marvel Comic

If only...Then it'd just be Omega Red vs Captain America, and would be all over in 10-15 pages tops...

  • Hard News: Yr Enemies R Stupid,

I've always read Naomi Klein's writings out of personal interest, and while she normally raises some valid/interesting points & arguments, you also have to keep a fairly large grain of salt handy...she's working from a pretty obvious agenda on the subjects she discusses (which I find is always strongly apparent), which can overpower her more positive points.

  • Hard News: This whole, glorious trainwreck,

I have to admit to contributing to WhaleOil's traffic, just because it's good for a laugh..for somebody who rates themselves so highly as a blogger, his invective-laden, poorly punctuated/spelt ramblings would look childish in a Standard 1 creative writing lesson...plus his site looks like my Grandmother designed it.

  • Hard News: Spectacular but useless,

Haha that's what I was thinking Simon. Statistic of the day really.

    Damaging...probably.

    Interesting...definately!

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

Hey guys...if you stop responding to the trolling, maybe the troll will go away...

It doesn't happen very often here on P.A, but it makes me glad that I don't read Whaleoil et al on a regular basis, that's for sure! What do you call it when all the comments on a thread are trollish?

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

I've often wondered about the legislation regarding abortion...it's always seemed a litlle 'grey' to me at best. Regardless of whether or not the law is being (technically) broken/ignored, it seems to me that the system works pretty well as is?

Does anyone think that this is likely to become a real issue? Personally, I think (or would like to think) that most NZers are reasonable enough to accept that this particular decision is one best made on an individual basis; it's not like you have to have an abortion just because you can...

But being an election year, I get a funny feeling that someone's going to latch onto this and give it more air than it really needs?

  • Hard News: Debating Clydesdale,

I think it's hilarious Yulia even rated a mention on either of these 2 boards, let alone sparking a flame war/police complaint!

  • Hard News: How many children with cancer…,

The whole 'could pay Dot's rent' scenario made me groan out loud in the lunch room this morning...I mean, come on!

I'm sure my landlord spends a shed-load that they could otherwise be spending on the house I live in, but guess what? They don't! Nor do I bemoan the fact they're driving an Audi when the gutters are leaking. It's completely irrelevant to say 'they've spent x which could've bought y instead'...as if HNZ doesn't spend ANYTHING on their houses/tenants. Sure, maybe they could've done it cheaper (but probably not by much), but at the end of the day I think it's almost remarkably cheap!

  • Hard News: O.G.,

I was just going to ask the same question Robyn...it's like adding a hood onto a jumper makes it some kind of magical Fountain of Yoof...

In faaact, I'm seeing a potential market for hoodies, selling them to the very same Elders who are currently tutting into their Earl Grey about the Evil Yoof Hoodie Gangs...they spend $100s/$1,000s on comestics/surgery etc to make them look/feel younger, when all they need is a HOOD...genius.
