  • OnPoint: Election 2011: GO!, in reply to recordari,

If you could all give my apologies to Jackie tomorrow, that would be good. Something’s come up.

Bugger – someone else I’m not going to have the pleasure of poisoning. You’ll keep. :)

I was so disappointed to the attitude to Ian deciding not to post here any more. You all just let him go without so much as a ‘oh, that’s a shame’.

In my own defence, if it was said on that thread in a certain place, it put me in a pretty toxic head space and had nothing useful to add beyond my initial (and very early) comment.

And if Ian’s taking a powder from PAS, I don’t know the whys and wherefores so a bit of man-tronage (however well-intentioned) would not be productive. I’ve taken a rest from various on-line communities because if it ain’t fun and/or illuminating, or you’re just racking up the bad karma, stepping off for a bit isn’t a bad idea. God knows I’m going to be doing a lot of judicious scrolling and tongue-gnawing between now and November…

Oh Look here’s our Prime Minister mincing down the catwalk

Wow, Andin, that was, like, totally gay and a little bit spastic…

One great thing about having a male Prime Minister and Opposition Leader again is you can say all kinds of offensive bullshit about political leaders without being called a bigoted twatcock. Yay!

Is one prepared to accept that the MPs in the party one likes are morons, but it’s still the better party?

Well, I can’t happily point at various spots around the House and bewail the lack of compulsory IQ testing (and a thorough psych assessment) as a qualification to be a member of the House of Representatives. But that may, on sober reflection, raise more problems than it solves.

  • OnPoint: Election 2011: GO!, in reply to Matthew Poole,

were it not for the difficulty of speaking while fellating the Leader of the Opposition.

OK, so a plurality of the electorate are fuck-wits and the media are all meat-bots who can’t do anything unless John Key is fisting them and wiggling his fingers. Does the Labour Party have any level of responsibility for losing the 2008 election, or do they just have the misfortune of being in a world that doesn’t deserve their incandescent collective righteousness?

Seriously, folks, when you're starting to sound like Kiwibog, c. October-November 2005 it's time to worry. Or get the carpets professionally cleaned. Whatever floats your boat.

I’m afraid this is one time when I’m not going to ignore your false equivalence bullshit, Craig. That’s a load of hooey and you know it.

ETA: Whatevs. I’ve redacted my unhelpfully strong opinion of Laws, Willie Jackson and John Tamihere. But I take at face value people who’ve said they listen to the podcasts here because they won’t listen to Radio Live on principle. I don’t like my work being tainted by association with people whose bigotry I hold in utter contempt, but would be a hypocrite to criticise people who place blanket anathemas on media outlets they consider offensive.

The tacit endorsement by social association with a man who left his partner with bones that had been kicked to pieces really eclipses anything else.

I'd really like to know how far that moral contagion goes -- just to make sure I shouldn't be drafting a resignation letter before toddling off to record my last piece for Public Address Radio (which appears on the same station as Michael Laws' vile twatcockery, and shares a proprietor with Veitch's current employer).

Here’s what was actually posted again:

And it's still man-tronising bullshit. Honestly, if I was Bronagh Key (or Mary Goff come to that), I'd be looking forward to months of piss-taking mockery. OTOH, since we're looking forward to a nine month election campaign I'd be practising cringing on the inside.

Since I'm not, I'll restrict myself to being offended (or not) on my own account.

That’s right, it’s all about individuals.

When you're concern trolling about how horrible it is that John Key has "humiliated" his wife, yes it is.

Honestly are you and Thomas Beagle getting your lines from the same script?

Honestly, Sacha, you expect me to dignify that with a response?

What, you don’t think the commenter’s concern about what Key’s actions say about his character are valid?

If my partner feels “humiliated” by my constant paeans to the hotness of Russell Tovey he’s welcome to tell me to STFU and/or declare a time out on the naughty sofa bed. (We do domestics old school around here.) Over the last fifteen years, he’s shown a remarkable facility for being offended on his own account. I just suggest ‘Psycho Milt’ would like to pay Bronagh Key the same courtesy.

But we do still have some stake in the kind of person we want representing our country, don’t we?

I’m sure the people who regarded Helen Clark’s uterus, her marriage and her personal and political associations with *gasp* sodomites and sapphists as matters of compelling public interest rather than vulgar impertinence would agree with you. YMMV as to whether you want to be standing that close to Ian Wishart.

Save that one for the picnic, if the opportunity arises.

Looks like I'll be having an early night...
