I think it came from a poster on Murray Hewitt's wall.

I remember reading an article in early 2001 to the effect that it might not be so bad having Bush as a president, because some great music would come out of it. I think whoever wrote that got more than they bargained for.

When my students find out I'm from New Zealand they tell me how much they love Flight of the Conchords. I have friends who know more about Flying Nun than I do, and colleagues who, over the past few years, have waxed lyrical about the quality of New Zealand public institutions and our principled stand against the Iraq War. And whenever I hear people talk about all these wonderful things, I always stop them, and tell them that it rests on three great qualities: Our ingenuity, our scenery, and our capacity to produce food.

Based almost entirely on enthusiastic discussions on this very forum, I have recently begun watching Battlestar Galactica. I have just started season 2, and am enjoying it very much. If we could refrain from publishing spoilers in random PA threads, I would be grateful.

So, fivethirtyeight tells us that turnout wasn't that much higher. I wonder if there was a tradeoff between new people voting for Obama and Republicans staying at home, or if the much touted increase in registration turned to nought.
