  • OnPoint: MSD's Leaky Servers, in reply to Matthew Poole,

Herald article I saw yesterday said that wasn't going to be happening.

Their basic duty of care is repulsive. It may be time for a charter, between us and Govt. Our democracy is broken, IMO.
I blame the CEO model, squarely.

  • OnPoint: MSD's Leaky Servers,

I wonder if when they took the kiosks offline they bumped up staff numbers to cope? I also wonder if they have drawn up a plan?
I also wonder if this is the straw that gets the PM to the booths early. On so many fronts finally anyone can see this Govt. is woefully broken.
Oh and suing, surely there is a contract WINZ have broken?
Is this the death knell for corporatism? Has anyone considered how totally undemocratic it is?

  • Legal Beagle: Presuming innocence, in reply to Sacha,

The man is seriously proclaiming that the Police have 'cleared' him. Another downside of them (the Police) behaving like a judge and jury.

It's a Police political feature not a bug.

It's circuses and bread, not circuses and soup.

And thank goodness it's people, the people who live in a place that really make that place. For a time i visited Christchurch fairly often for family reasons, and I reckon I have met the most kind, hospitable and down to earth people. And there's surf! Sumner, the square, the river, nights out on the town that did not result in horror, and books, a place where books and art and music are revered. Good food, fine cafe life, the countryside nearby, amazing coastlines...it is my romantic notion that once the nabobs have their swagger the real people will settle back down to being and doing what they always have done, with strength and quiet calm. I know there is alot of strife and struggle but I have not encountered any meanness.
I was born in the north but my time spent in the south is always refreshing and wonderful, even the weird times and every place has those.
    Just thought I say that.

Oh, I was probably a bit hasty, not a town planner at all me.

The problem is that stormwater and sewerage are not separated, our overflow outflow is the harbours. No money honey, bad times, are you a traitor, don't you know what it takes to run a city...I don't surf after rain unless it is life-threateningly good.
Our waters are a disgrace, and that includes our west coast - especially so after heavy rainfall because you know, septic tanks - you been paying rates for something but clean water it ain't.

OK heresy alert. I knew they blew it when they said CBD, stadia and 8 stories high convention delux. Put in fibre and de-centralise. Don't build buildings that do nothing but house cubicle farms for absentee landlords.
    Build a 2012 city, not a 1962 one.
