• Hard News: Better, faster ... prettier,

That's a bit of a blow. And if Bradford's Hollywood disappears (where does Max get the time?) then it's all over.

There's usually a laugh or two to be found in the section near the front with the misprints, accidental puns, and funny signs from the week's print media. And the political cartoonist isn't terrible. And....

    ...yeah.

But, hey, at least the neurotic middle classes have a magazine to reliably inform them about the dangers of investment property, the failing health system, and how to get their kids into genius school. I mean, someone's gotta report on this stuff, right?

big tv, hi-def, pimples. an evil combo.

Jack Coleman of "Heroes" commented in an interview that he was terrified of the show moving to HD because it meant his nose hair would be broadcast to the world.

Please let's not give mark any more jollies.

Sadly, right now "troll" is just winning out over "Loss of microsatellite diversity in overexploited New Zealand snapper".

I think the autonomy bullshit might have put the snapper ahead, though.

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

I believe it's your human right not to have that child, but you will have to violate your bodies anatomy to exercise that human right.

Newsflash: plays on words do not make you clever. And any surgery violates bodily anatomy, hah hah. It doesn't make it wrong. I violate my bodily anatomy by having my ears pierced, for god's sake. Don't be specious.

this is not about gender, don't make it about that. men have babies too you know

Nice try. But until a cisgendered man manages to get pregnant, I'm gonna go with women's rights issue here.

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

you got alot of fight in you

Like I said: study break, bored, plus these jackboots need to be taken out and given an airing every so often. I think you get feminist bingo points for the patronising tone there, though.

but your arguing against violation of bodily anatomy by effing for the violation of bodily anatomy, i get the feeling from what you're saying that you've been fuly brainwashed into believing pregnancy is unnatural.

My right to choose whether or not I do something to my body is violating my bodily autonomy? Bzzt. Failure of logic. And, oops, weren't you a strong supporter of abortion a few pages back?

But you're right, I have been brainwashed! I am a mere weak woman, who has been cruelly seized by the Feminazis and forced to do their bidding! My opinion is not my own! Help me, someone, help!

Not sure the adopted children would agree with that, but it would be fascinating to read.

Not psychologically damaging for the kids; for the mothers. Not in every case, naturally, but it's not the easy answer to abortion.

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

because after abortion, the wife will simply answer her husbands incredulous complaints with "meh"

It occurs that if two people are that diametrically separated on issues relevant to marriage like, say, reproductive rights, they perhaps should not be married. Just a thought there.

But my might Amazonian jackboots are just so pretty! Don't make me give them up!

  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

which part of the logic is problematic for you lucy?

...the part where a woman is forced to go through with a pregnancy she does not wish to carry to term, thereby rendering her no more than an incubator for the foetus/embryo she carries. Not to mention endangering her health and life involuntarily. What part of "violation of bodily autonomy" don't you understand? And don't fluff around with the marriage bit; marriage does not equal ownership. We called that the nineteenth century, dude.

Any thoughts on the prospect of adoption as part of an alternative to abortion?

I think it's _an_ option. I think it also carries many of the same problems, re: turning women into incubators for other people to get babies from. If someone wants to, they should go for it, but especially for young women pregnancy is a huge disruption to their life, and it's not an easy alternative. Furthermore, the evidence for long-term psychological damage is much greater than that for damage from abortion. I think it should be offered; I don't think it should be pushed as a way to lower the number of abortions.
