Thats one way of putting it. Times when the Democrats, if they had cooperated, would have been filibuster proof majority in the Senate:
July 7, 2009 to August 25, 2009 (Most of this time was the summer recess)
September 25, 2009 to Feb 4, 2010 (includes Christmas break)
and one other day in 2009 due to complicated and unexpected reasons. -

Media agencies seem to be wedded to the old even though they can’t show it works.
To be honest, I assumed they were wedded to it because no-one can show it doesn't work.

There was a bit of discussion in the past few weeks on how, with the collapse in internet advertising revenues, subscribers have (or are about to depending on who you read) become the dominant revenue stream for the New York Times (this ebing seen as a benchmark figure of sorts). Some discussion ensued about the way this may effect the relationship between readers, advertisers, and journalism.

I have an (now getting on) Canon S3, and expect to be replacing it with another Canon model. Mainly because most of the Canon Point and Shoots you can add the CHDK firmware to the SD card and get the camera to do all kinds of things normally impossible in a model of its price range.
