The World Premiere of Chad Taylor and Jonathan King’s movie REALITi will be during the Wellington Film Festival and then screened in the Auckland Film Festival – get your tickets early (when they are available)
REALITi is a new science fiction film written by Chad Taylor and directed by Jonathan King. It stars Nathan Meister, Michelle Langstone, Graham McTavish, Aroha White, Miranda Manasiadis, Nathaniel Lees and Tim Wong.
Independently-produced, REALITi was shot on a micro-budget around Wellington over 2013, often with permission. Employing the style and visual language of “new wave” movies, it’s a love letter to both European cinema and New Zealand: a local urban landscape populated with international fears
Interesting Music Week story on the YouTube wrangle: a leaked memo from the CEO of Believe Digital, which expresses support for the campaign against YouTube’s terms by WIN and IMPALA, but announces he has signed with YouTube on behalf of his clients.
He makes some thoughtful points.
An earlier story has further detail.
A good time for local films, it seems (hobbits, excluded of course!) Fantail has been getting enthusiastic reviews, we went to a full house for What We Do In the Shadows on Friday night (much guffawing), and Dark Horse and Jake are coming soon.
Also, the All Blacks on Saturday night were the bees-knees. Glad we got tickets.
Being shut out does open things up for independent artists to stream independently on ya know wider independent broadcast networks.
There is a geezer in Auckland who was streaming live open mic nights, a range of other gigs and also streaming local mostly home based music makers 24 hours and most of the talent was outstanding – I followed it for well over a year – may be even two years now - there are alot of people out there making great music.
That is a future if you want to be part of it – going to help him with some funding and sponsorship so he can get it back up again but better.
The major baked bean peddlers where never that much interested in your local delicacies - anyway if you consume too many baked beans you get flatulence.

The shorts I've seen, put me in mind of Polanski's
Fearless Vampire Killers art direction...
