Hard News: Big Night Outage, in reply to
When the Franklin Rd upgrade was being worked through Vector was the only service who wouldn’t come to the party. They said they wouldn’t underground the power. The residents politely informed them to reconsider before we launched a PR firestorm on them (having Bill and Janet in the street has advantages!). Needless to say by the time the next meeting had come around they had agreed to do the work.

But yeah, I do think I'm entitled to not want to die the death of Parnell.
Every day I walk down Ponsonby Road and reflect on how lucky I am to live here. After working in Parnell for 3 years you realise just how good we have it over this side. Our friends in the 'Chev are mad about their neighbourhood as well. If we can find a way to bring in a lot more people at some form of affordability then things will only get better.

...because they will not shift. They have never shifted....
So taken to its logical conclusion Greens will never be in power unless they win a clear majority? They can never work with any other party unless their values align 100%? A coalition has to make compromises no matter what side of the political spectrum it lies on.
What may be better is to work on policies where there is at least some alignment or some willingness to accept a path that aligns.

I'm wondering if the Greens ran truly independent what their party vote would be? There a lot of Blue/Green would be voters out there. How many votes would they pick up from National voters and how many would they loose from Labour? Has anybody done the sums on this? More than one National voter I have spoken with would have voted Green if they had not ruled out working with National.
If the Greens are ever to become an equal or better to National/Labour they can't "me to" onto Labour. They shouldn't settle for third place.

Maybe Labour's time has past. This century is not about blue collar workers but about saving our planet from destruction. Maybe the Greens are the way forward.?Neither Labour or National showed any long term vision for our country.

In what areas do you think you can work with National? If there was one thing you would want to achieve under a National lead Government, what would that be?

The other interesting thing about Western Springs is that it is the only mainstream school that boys can go to if they live in the CBD/Ponsonby/Freemans bay/St Marys Bay. It isn't just Pt Chev that is feeding Western Springs. With greater density and more people living in the city it is going to get a lot worse. I'm wondering if there are any plans for a new unisex high school to cater for the CBD?

I'm going to go so far as to say if it isn't available as an icon on my Apple TV then it doesn't exist. After ditching Sky and getting US iTunes and Netflix, AppleTV is the only remote we use. Free to Air TV goes on maybe once every month for the adults and Sat/Sun morning for the kids (only because they can't turn the TV to right input ;-). Apple TV now has some great additional 'apps' like Red Bull TV and Spark should be gunning for a place on it.

Back at one of the early KiwiFOO's Cunliffe really impressed with his grasp of the issues. I think he will be good for ICT.

I scream, you scream, we all scream, ICE CREAM!
I put a KitchenAid stand mixer and ice cream attachment on our wedding registry out of share hope that someone might want to pony up that sort of cash but alas we only go the ice cream attachment. Luckily I only had to wait a few months until my lovely wife bought me the KitchenAid for an Xmas/birthday present. Now most people would consider an ice cream attachment as excessive but not me. New York Cheesecake, Golden Syrup and Gingernut Biscuit and Lime Pie flavours being just some I've what I've made. Here follows my standby no fuss, no egg, no cooking ice cream:
* 250g Mascarpone
* 250ml Full fat milk (the country style at the supermarket or 50/50 cream, normal milk)
* 150g Castor sugarWhisk it all up in a mixer then put into the ice cream machine. Done. Add anything else for flavour - Fruits, honey, etc.
