Aside from being confused between MASH and the Vietnam War coverage on the news (helicopters, soldiers in Asia).
Specific events, not in order:
Death of Elvis - came home to my Mum in tears
Erebus - announced over the school intercom
Strikes in Britain
Oil Crisis - fighting in Israel/Egypt, OPEC pricing and carless days
Launch of Skylab
Silver Jubileeall before I was 10...

at the end of the day, even if someone else takes over rights from Sky, that Sky'll still be in the mix... they are 100% owners of the OSB, the biggest on-site broadcasting unit in NZ.
at the end of the day NZRU will probably stick with dealing with a single broadcasting partner, but may force them to start "on-selling content" to other channels

It's been a great ride following the coverage with you Russell... I agree, as voters/citizens it's important we hold our officials accountable post the election and points raised by Nicky Hagar need proper open and public investigation.
As a family, we'll be voting tomorrow, my kids are still many years off being able to vote, but the more they understand about democracy and the process the better equipped they'll be when it's their turn.
Meanwhile... have a great day!

I want the t-shirt Murray Cammick is wearing... it's superb
as for the Springsteen concert, could I be the only person who thinks his version of Royales is pretty awful, it's neither clever, funny nor entertaining and I generally rate him quite highly

There are currently a couple of options for MIPS helmets in NZ, the TSG Kraken+ from $189 or the POC Trabec MIPS from $340. Scott-Bikes have announced the Stego, which uses MIPS and they also have the Lin from last year, though I can't find any record if they are available in NZ.

I'm glad to see this blog has spurred on great conversations and thoughts. It's disappointing that Auckland Council in both it's guises, as Auckland Council and Auckland Transport has done a poor job of following up on their own research and recommendations, all I can say is lobby both organisations and you local boards.
For those who believe we should repeal helmet laws... don't, the risks of serious injury are just too fecking high http://thesebrokenpaths.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/how-much-do-you-value-your-brain.html
Last week I had a rather rough end to my regular morning ride http://thesebrokenpaths.blogspot.co.nz/2014/01/accident.html and I ride off road only for fitness and enjoyment, essentially because of horror experiences in the past of riding in West Auckland traffic.
So please always wear a helmet, lobby to get better cycling facilities and be thankful we have a great emergency services.
