Out here in the backblocks you'll hear "marijuana", "weed", "pot", and other names. Cannabis is rarely used by Joe ThreeFingerDeal. It's more of a media thing.

Sometime in the 60s I recall standing in a shop in Waikanae and looking at a photo series of some soldiers who had been caught by the enemy. It was, I think, around three photos and it showed them pleading for their lives and then being bayoneted.
It may have been before the Wahine or it may have been afterwards. My feeling is before though. I recall the Wahine clearly. It's the first major storm I was aware of. I was picked up from school by my mother and a large tree had fallen through some shop windows in Upper Hutt. I remember my mother telling me the Wahine was sinking. We travelled to the South Island the following weekend and the water was dead flat. The Wahine was lying on its side in the harbour entrance with lights on it.

Also a ventolin user from childhood and still have one near by but probably do use it maybe twice a week (if that) these days. Prior to 1969 I was given liquid ventolin which was poured into a glass tube with complicated looking finer glass tubes inside it. It was converted into a mist by gently squeezing a rubber bulb on the end. From memory it took about 5 minutes or more to get a full dose.
My brother and I discovered the high effects of salbutamol in the early 70s. We used to sneak down to the parent's bedroom where the ventolin was kept and hit about 15 times each (if not more). We would have been between 7 and 10 I think.

Spend a bit of dosh and get a good quality microphone. We bought a Samson G Track for doing voice overs. It's worth it.

When my partner goes away I reach for a cube roll and cut a steak that verges on a mini roast. Seared in a very hot pan, finished in the oven, and rested for 10 minutes. Occasionally I'll do a baked potato to soak up the juice but not often.
