Field Theory: Campaigning, in reply to
Thanks, Simon. I guess you'll be bringing sunglasses next time ;)
Chris: here are a lot more photos from Game 1 and Game 2.
Ian: the Rubens filter! I like it.
For anyone interested in the secrets behind the magic, all is revealed in this blog post.

I forgot about the game and went to bed early but damn, it was almost as exciting "watching" the game via my Twitter feed this morning. John Campbell needs to become a commentator. I wonder if he would consider guest commentating the Pirate City vs Richter City roller derby bout?

[I guess few here know what Braxton Hicks contractions are...]
I had a good laugh, Robyn.
Practice does make perfect
We're far from perfect yet, thanks Hadyn, but I think we're improving slowly with each bout. The next bout can't come soon enough.
You have reminded me of a quote from Magnum photographer Elliott Erwitt though: "Everything you need to know about photography is on the box, the rest is practise."

I got a bit jealous of Mike enjoying some derby action while I was out of the country so I tracked down the local team in Copenhagen, the Rollin Heartbreakers, and went along to a training session. Funnily enough one of their new recruits this week was Eurotrasher who used to skate for Mascara Massacre in Auckland.

This is why the press is dying, inadequate spelling skills and fewer pendants.
I'm going to assume that was a great joke rather than a suggestion for journalists to wear more jewellery.

Ours said "Go Jet Go" with accompanying traffic light, which is pretty modest, but was designed by an enthusiastic 4-year old.
Was that this one? (Great work, Mike)

Yeah, I'm with Richard. The '82 World Cup gave us kids the courage to stand up to our rugby-loving dads in rugby-mad small-town NZ and enter a soccer team in the inter-school competition. It was a glorious time for football.

There's a sex scene (of all things) American Pie that I thought was quite realistic. It was the couple's first time and they awkward and not quite sure what to do and then it was over quickly.
I'm still practicing to make sure my first time isn't like that.

Great story. Can I buy the movie rights?

Anyone know where to get more 1/2Gs?
Regional Wines and Spirits in Wellington and Emerson's in Dunedin are selling these awesome glass flagons at the moment. I don't know if anyone in Christchurch has them.
