I found a post at Kiwiblog where he has some comment and quotes from the longitudinal study people are mentioning in the comments, but their link to the actual paper is dead.
He does note that the worst type of violence (e.g. sever injury or murder) was almost always male on female though.

My friend's buddy who works in constitutional law in the US explained why it's not as simple as you make it sound.
The 'terrorist' list has no judicial oversight, once you are on it you cannot appeal the decision and have yourself removed. So having your rights (in this case to having a gun) removed by being on this list simply wasn't considered good/fair/constitutional, and likely never had a chance of being passed anyway. Or would probably have been successfully challenged if it had made it into law.
He's, according to him, a big anti-gun guy, but he was super pissed at them trying to make this law.

And here’s the video of one of Key’s DPS guards pushing Kelvin Davis after he told Key he was “gutless” in the foyer earlier.
I'm not seeing it like you are Russell. It appears that the guard is in motion, has to step around the guy with the beard and glasses who moved into his way and bumps into Kelvin. I think claiming that he pushed a guy who was criticising JK is a little overblown. But, meh.
