  • Hard News: Paul Reynolds: A Contribution,

I am so shocked. I met with Paul for the first time when he was in Dunedin a week or 2 ago. Over a coffee we made plans, discussed ideas, drew diagrams and laughed. I was so impressed with his passion and enthusiasm and ability to see the big picture.

    A terrible loss

Quo Vadis - i would have liked to read a comparison between my unit and a MySky one.

Funnily enough I keep recording the news (TV3) and yet haven't got around to watching it for weeks

    Gary - I can't recall but I think I have watched TV1 while recording 2 & 3. I'll give it a go tonight though to confirm

This is EXACTLY what happened. I was recording Prime and TV3 and and TV1 and TV2 were unavailable and yet I was watching the Back Benches on TV7

Brent - as Russell pointed out, the only way around losing the live-pause buffer when you change channels is to record. Th HDD is big enough to do this if you remember to clean up after yourself at some point.

The fast forward is ok (I am talking advert skipping purposes) but is fiddly. The 'arrow' buttons on the remote seem set to make 5 second jumps but i discovered that you can alter this setting to a % of a recorded programme. I used to have a DVD recorder that had a 10sec jump and a 3 minute jump. The latter was almost perfect for skipping ads.

I guess no advertiser wants to hear this BUT its what people with DVRs do I imagine. I have found myself going back too look at an ad that has sparked my interest with skipping forward once or twice.

  • Hard News: Too Good to Be True,

Thanks for the tips on your show etc. I am incresingly becomign dependent on online televesion viewing as for the last few days TV3 seems to have stopped broadcasting on VHF in my area. There has been no change to our aerial set up etc. Very hestiant to fork out for new antenna/cabling etc to get more channels (only getting 1 & 2) and set up freeveiw as this is a rental house
