I like your metaphor, but barriers and signs won't save us here as they are being tested surrounding the $100 million + shonkey building the council bought. They oversaw the building of it, were warned of buying it but bought anyway and now the chewing gum fixing of the granite veneer is giving way.

Why is the focus on economic growth what happened to the the growth of humanity; to our development as a people. I think economic growth; as it had done until the depression and war, can be the by-product of a good life Pride, good workmanship and a desire to do the best seemed to have mankind growing quite nicely but as the earning potential from real estate, insurance and finance have overtaken industry we seem to have stagnated.
We have the worlds fastest Indian, Britten Bikes and a round the world capability whether bio fuel or solar. The news for growth is a 5 story brothel more pokeys and a cycle track -
I feel the intent of the corrections dept is displayed by the administrative hierarchy of prisons. We need the workers directing rehabilitation, in management rather than the guards as at present.
Private prisons are pure Milo Minderbinder, we all get a share. -
I hope this is an appropriate place to comment on the new Z station at Royal Oak, the wonderfully tantalising display of carcinogens behind the counter, with only the 'smoking kills ' slogan as signage certainly tempted me. I felt this conflicted with their message of being community focused. Although I notice on the TV add this space is displaying sweets etc.
