If Kiwiblog ever closed down what on earth would Larry Williams and Leighton Smith do for material for their shows ?
As a dutiful Media Monitor, I must sadly report that Leighton would not suffer one bit. He seems fonder of drawing material from Not PC.
Gosh... If only the blogosphere did not have so much fringe. It's almost emo.

I imagine the Ford loss is all down to the bad financial times, but it will certainly make all the fundies boycotting the company happy.

I found it a struggle to get through, it was like I was getting over a sleeping pill.
That probably has more to do with the inept writing than the content. What sort of journalist writes, 'the picture that has emerged is of a person of driving ambition and determination who is prepared to do what it takes to achieve what he is aiming for', rather than, 'Key is ambitious and determined'? Why are some sentences lifted out of context and set as paragraphs despite not standing alone? "He also remembers Key as being very resourceful and someone who would seek advice", is treated to paragraph status for no apparent reason, as are several others throughout the article. Is this severely misplaced emphasis?
It's not just a puff piece, it's mess.

Everyone knows that Perigo used to be a good interviewer.
I'm too young to remember a sane Perigo. Nowadays, as a "media monitor" who had to summarise his filth on Radio Pacific, I find this very hard to believe.

<i>"Did you see the letter in this week's Listener complaining about an article that was too soft on him, given that he is "far left"? That was based specifically on his pro-choice policies, and funnily enough the letter-writer was from Masterton."</i>
No, I didn't, fortunately. I don't have a television so don't really need glorified TV listings and some crosswords pages.

He's basically a Chicago-school neoliberal and as truly 'left-wing' as Michael Bassett is these days. I really can't understand why self-identifying 'progressive' Americans are getting so excited about him. They seem to view the fact that he's been able to raise so much money and has got Rupert Murdoch's support as a good thing, rather than a giant, flashing warning sign of where his real interests and sympathies lie.
It really is amazing that more people aren't noting this. It makes me cringe, the number of Kiwis who are calling Obama a 'Left-wing candidate'. It's all a bit disorientating. Nevertheless, looking at the competition I suppose it's easy to see Obama's appeal, McCain believes that Roe vs Wade should be overturned and that the USA's constitution somehow enshrined the country as a 'Christian Nation'.

Ralston's little tanty was cute, in a twitchy-eyed sort of way. It was all about how RB is an 'ignorant blogger ... who believes strange things'. A few accusations of faux journalism just to top things off. It's pretty amusing for a third rate radio personality to accuse you of 'feed[ing] like vermin off the work of other journalists'.

He should stick to announcing sheepdog trials, they seem more in keeping with his talent.
These days his segment is like radio coverage of sheepdog trials. Has there been any actual content on that slot in past few months? I haven't noticed any.
It's more fun listening to the trainwrecks on ZB. Or, God forbid, Michael Laws.

You forgot idea that god provides everything we need. Which is another arguement they use against worrying about climate change.
Either God or 'human ingenuity' - another Leighton line.
If it's 'the fire next time', not flooding, shouldn't they be more concerned about global warming?

I'll run with the former suggestion. Most of Leighton and George's supporters have cobwebs threaded throughout their nostrils.
I suppose this means zombies. Oooh, I'm not fond of them either.
