Phil Twyford is currently making all the right noises on urbanism and public transport. But a clean, green, growing city based on a policy of dog-whistling migrant-baiting is just white supremacy with an image makeover. Labour has to make a clean break from this racist nonsense.
Free hint: anything which comes after "we're not being racist" is racist AF.

Speaking of Olivia Records, is there much in the book about the struggle between trans women and trans-exclusive radical feminists, as in the attempt to drive Sandy Stone out of that label?

I've never heard of any of the people involved until half an hour ago, but three points: (1) the "Norman Bates" line was the kind of thing that I would consider clever "snark" if I read it in an online review or blog comment rather than on live TV; (2) "crackheads"? "meth"? In my experience that IS how people who're not on addictive psychoactives actually behave... when they assume that the object of their wrath can't hear them. Which is why I wonder what the fuss is about; (3) The whole "how can you worry about this while people are being pushed out of towers in Iraq" thing is attention policing which only gives it more attention, like telling someone not to think of pink elephants.

Chris Starling was also part of goth legends The Sisters of Mercy around the turn of the century.

"Is this what you people got into journalism for?"
Money and attention? Yes, of course.

At the risk of appearing self-promotional, here's another one-woman band from Auckland.
