I wouldn't say major scratches or deteriation, just the usual stuff, but it just didn't look or sound restored at all, unlike Gone with the Wind, 2001 etc. which really were stunning.

Also pleased to see Diego Forlan winning the golden boot
Golden ball?

Sacha,
Good job, huh? Perplexing that TVNZ never seemed to realise how out of line that was. -
I think what was stunningly restored was our appreciation of the genre.
Don't get me wrong; I love the film. Just a bit perplexed about that.

After seeing 'Once Upon A Time in The West' in it's full Civic glory
Any idea what was so 'stunning[ly] restor[ed]' about that one? The sound was poor (at both sessions, I'm told) and visually, it was full of all the scratches and rips you'd expect of a 40-year-old print. I don't get it.

some people still subscribe to a commodity model of sexuality, where a woman’s precious internal chastity orb is depleted every time she ‘gives it up’ to a new guy. Men, on the other hand, rack up points by claiming these chastity bits when we discard them.

2. Appearing to state that young women who seek to hook up with sports stars for sexual fun "do so at their peril" because, hey, players be rapin'. - R
I heard it as appearing to state that if you come off second-best in your encounter with a rugby player and then complain about it, you can expect to come up against a united front of the old boy rugby network including the sort of legal and PR firepower that'll make you wish you'd just kept your trap shut.
I may be wrong but I have very keen instincts. - Holmes
That's a laugh and a half of a sentence, huh?

the really enhancing thing
about the old haiku exchanges was - nobody won! Everyone gained!Yes, of course (hence my wink).
In this case I, for example, gained both enjoyment in reading yours and an appreciation of how much room I have for improvement. ;)
I think I shall study it a bit and return next time with less facetiousness.

@ Islander,
You win. ;) -
Well, only gently.
Anyhow, we're both, I'm sure, sorry for offence caused so let's leave it there.
