    Our actual emissions are irrelevant.

But being part of the club that take climate change seriously is not irrelevant.

And most importantly we could develop innovations to reduce our emissions that could be applied worldwide, proven on our small (irrelevant) farms.

The problem has always been our politicians are not statepersons. They think only of their own short career and how much wealth and power they can personally accumulate from it. None of them think or act for the good of the whole of New Zealand let alone the world.

That's our fault. We voted for them. We sit back between elections and go tut-tut when they break every promise and sell our future to the fattest brown envelope.

    really creative

For me that is the attraction of Project Runway. Some (not all) of the people are very talented and I actually enjoy watching talented people do what they do.

Same applies to British Masterchef and my all time favourite cooking show Great British Menu where it's not unusual to see one kitchen with four or five Michelin stars in it. Genuinely talented people doing what they are really good at.

My weakness is Project Runway and I do tend to enjoy the actual design and building bits of The Block (the faux drama I can live without).

Note this does not exclude me from being a prole and I am certainly an idiot on many many many occasions.

    Come on guy’s

I'm going to insult your clothes and style choices because your grammar is bad. None of which has anything to do with your point.

That is my problem with Kills. She could have criticised ability but instead, like me above, she chose an irrelevant personal attack. Oddly as cutting, and yes nasty, as Mr Cowell could be, he mostly stayed focused on talent and whether he believed, based on his experience, the artist could succeed and make Cowell some more money.

    Bad judge is bad.

  • Envirologue: 1080, "eco-terrorism" and agendas,

lobby groups keep rolling Trojan horses up to the doors of the newspapers, ramshackle constructions of tin foil and tape dressed to look like science, but packed tight inside with self-interest and agendas.

Just wanted to compliment you on this phrase and notify you that I fully intend to steal it.

So many issues where this phrase is totally appropriate. Which wouldn't really matter except in many cases these lobby groups cause real harm. In this case it's in the fight to protect our native (stupid ground dwelling) birds from introduced mammals.

Stick an Anzac frigate (or even the Leanders we had then) 2km off the end of the Suva airport runway and declare a no-fly zone. That’d stuff them up and they’d have no effective response.

Have you seen what infantry borne missiles do nowadays? None of our "navy" could afford to get anywhere within range.

we would get our clocks cleaned

That was at the time when Fiji was earning significant foreign income from Fijian army mercenaries, who apparently were very highly skilled and hard as nails. They also apparently had quite interesting private "collections" of military hardware.
