Capture: Upside Down, Inside Out, in reply to
the real twisted (foot) bridge
That's on Ian D's patch. I don't know -- that particular 5km away is a mission to get to from here! A while ago I was over that way, took a right turn instead of the usual way that was closed due to road repairs and drove for 45 minutes through Dallington/Burwood in the most devastated area of town before I could get out. It was totally surreal: houses nosediving into their front garden, bosky sideways tilts, streets and streets of cleared sections and mostly empty houses, some boarded up with ply, others with broken windows. I went home and wept: I have no words for it still.

The bluebell wood is by Carlton Corner of Hagley Park, tucked under the trees on the Fendalton fringe. It’s one of the city’s quiet treasures, and the smell is glorious. I was surprised it was in flower so early, though I haven’t been down that way last week. Hyacinths are probably right for that pic. I shall try to get to the bluebells when they flower. The daffodils in the gardens by the hospital are coming out now, so I will combine that with a hospital visit.

1. Sculpture in Hagley Park.
Never seen that! Where is it?
2. New Brighton pier.
Looks like a Ministry of Works bridge. Profoundly unlovely except at night when it’s lit in colours.
Nice to meet you Jackson – a good day for a walk today! We took the puppies to Sumner Beach for their first beach trip. I thought I would get pictures, but it was too hectic – all hands were needed. Great fun.

That Gordon Campbell piece is very good IMHO.

So do I. We have looked into moving to Auckland for work reasons but found the far greater cost of housing near the schools and the fees for Steiner up there more than cancelled out the extra earning potential. I rather liked the idea of Titirangi and further west. Huia liked the idea of living in Huia Road at Huia.
