Hard News: Radio New Zealand: changing…, in reply to
That’s just ever so slightly condescending there, Ianmac.
Not meant to be Craig. Great believer in freedom of choice. Just hope that programs such as Morning Report does not sacrifice content in order to make it more popular.

The need for Radio New Zealand to increase both the size and diversity of its audience is emphasised throughout the material distributed to staff.
Hope that doesn't mean that news programs like Morning Report slip into frothy stuff to appeal to frothy people who love to hear about the Royal family doings and what celebrities eat, in order to widen the audience. National Radio has a wide range of topics now, like Rural Report, World News, Nine to Noon, The Panel, Morning Report etc. Pretty diverse.

Funny that such a short film can capture me and compel me to watch to the end. So many levels. Great and I will look at my sock collection with more respect!

Hard News: The Letter, in reply to
Surely Mr Cunliffe could have signed the letter without ever meeting the man? Office process would have an electorate Secretary processing the request of many constituents and DC signing. (Although at that time Mr Liu was not a constituent of anywhere in NZ.)
-
My guess is that in a day or so someone will "discover" a photo of Mr Cunliffe and Mr Liu in the same place at the same time. This will be "proof" that the two were known to each other and had met. Therefore DC must be not telling the truth. Of course MPs meet heaps of people all the time without knowing who they are but if Labour is a threat....

Of course the Rugby World Cup IRB bears no resemblance to FIFA? No sausages for Rugby then? Thank goodness for that!

Note No 18. Low Carbon tax. So ACT Green could work together? Who would have thought.

Hard News: Circumstance and coincidence, in reply to
Real change Angela? Once people have a belief in someone it is likely to hold firm for a long time. When presented with information that contradicts the belief we tend to hang on and hang on because it challenges us to doubt our original judgement. (Marriage for example.) But once a trickle of doubt creeps in the mind starts doubting then looking sceptically.
Many people have doubted Mr Key. But his carefully manufactured "Aw shucks" persona papers over the cracks until tomorrow or next week when the trickle becomes a flood. Even for those embedded in loyalty to the Party like Michelle Boag. -
The return to Behaviourism in the context of helping improve the lot of Autistic may be a great help. By breaking down every action into measurable steps which have measurable outcomes may help.
Unfortunately the political push these days (Parata) is to foist Behaviourism onto school programs. (National Standards.) This had a rise in the 80s but soon it was evident that children do not learn well this way and was declined by good teachers. It looks good in that it seems that if you do this plus that the result will be obvious - but it can have the very reverse effect.
So to break down behaviours into tiny steps might help autism but keep it away from schools. -
Hard News: The sphere of influence, in reply to
He never returned and his press secretary ended up ignoring my requests for him to come back. Key, and other Ministers, avoided Morning Report for years.
Not sure if those two are linked. Are you part of Morning Report Mark?
