Curious whether “Registered Medical Practitioner” is limited to doctors, or includes, say, chiropractors. Since back pain would appear to be something that might qualify for treatment.

Hmmm ... I can't see that getting through.

I’m very, very curious how “non-psychoactive cannabis plants” is something that can possibly be controlled in the wild, since the people cultivating it are going to be pretty much anyone. Does it require some kind of mandatory testing and quality control regime?

It is happening already in NZ with hemp, but I'm not sure exactly how it's regulated, whether there are inspections or what.

I wonder also whether eczema counts as a severe chronic disorder of the immune system. That is literally what it is, although I’ve never heard of cannabis being a useful treatment. Perhaps as a sleeping aid to someone with maddening itches?

There actually seems to be some promise in CBD as an eczema treatment!

Oh, I already know the mighty Huhana :-)

Paula Bennett does her Westie-girl schtick and says she "wouldn't mind" legalised medpot.

Massively missing the point of course – it's not about being a stoner, pretend or otherwise – but on the heels of English's "I'll discuss it with caucus" response (after flatly ruling out voting for Seymour's bill) it's pretty interesting.

FWIW, I don’t think historical bias in the exit polls is something to rely upon. Pollsters model it once they have a pattern to work with.

It was looking like this week like likely-voter assumptions in the run-up polls are going to be quite pivotal.

  • Hard News: Rugby Now, in reply to BenWilson,

Yes, a lot do that. But when I say you don’t see “many” guys my age playing rugby, I actually meant I NEVER see it. Whereas middle aged guys playing soccer, I know half a dozen guys. The die-hard-est rugger fan mate of mine joined a club about 5 years ago for a bit, got hurt badly during the training and games and that was basically the end of it.

As you say, it's an injury-fest. It's not really possible to play seriously if you can't maintain a relatively high level of fitness and even then you'll break stuff. I played every weekend for years but stopped when I left school, and that was in the amateur days. But touch is quite different – there are plenty of guys in their 40s playing that.

I dunno about the rest though. What you described above is a bunch of people who actually aren't that into the game. When I went to games at Eden Park it was actually pretty chill and there were quite a few young women. And enduring watching with boofheads has been the exception rather than the rule for me.
