Fall track? I’ll raise you The The. This thread makes me think of the “this will be the day/when things will surely change” line. The Muldoon-Thatcher-era parallels in our political landscape and society are startling to me. Or did I not get enough sleep?

Sea level rise is taken accout of in the CCC’s flood management area and its fringe which takes in the 200-year flood risk. I will post a link when I have time to dig it up: it’s a huge issue with all sorts of repercussions re ongoing insurance, repairs, rebuilds, resale, mortgages. The issue is a ticking timebomb that is not understood by most of the populace (or real estate agents), and very well understood by insurers and the CCC.

The Mark Jury and several others
My Great-Uncle had a fondness for magnolias – he probably arranged to have them planted near his house!
The woodland is lovely in flower. I believe that many of bulbs were planted as the result of fundraising post WW2.
Twenty years or so ago Vicki Buck had the very cool idea of planting bulbs in the median strip of the neglected Linwood Ave, now it bursts into colour at the eastern end every spring. -

The Botanic Gardens’ specimen is large and handsome, and wafting a tantalising scent from flowers that are too high to sniff directly!
Where is it in the Gardens Lilith?
You have a wonderful suite of pics today – I especially like the magnolias looking up and the daffs looking across.

I think Gerry has in mind: “Christchurch: yo mah li’l puppy dawg now!”
Fits with the pick-up truck-driving man ambience….which leads me to…
Maybe it should be in the other thread... surely it must be Shane Jones' campaign song. -

One laughs in order not to cry, Lilith. We are all Christchurch now, as far as post-democracy goes. You were the pilot site.
“Christchurch: Done Over and Dusted’ to replace the Garden City slogan?

That’s interesting Bart. I knw zero about all these things. My experiment was cutting out dairy, gluten and meat for three weeks at a time (sequentially not all at once) to see if I felt less tired and generally icky. I wouldn’t even go far as to claim intolerance to anything. More that I felt better when I ate no dairy: more energy, clearer skin, no snuffly nose.
Lilith, as for butter: an annoyingly intrusive cholesterol reading has persuaded me not to eat it. Cheese: I’m trying not to but….

No butter. Milk became oat milk: that's easy to adapt to. Butter became hummus/ no-cheese pesto/nothing (tolerable). Yoghurt: small amounts but none is best. Cheese is a grief: blue/Parmesan/feta/melty brie/Monterey Jack: bugger.
