Roger and I started the site two years back or so.
I should have made the connection, can't be too many David Cormacks about in Wellington

Very good point Hamboy. Plus people may google search you if apply for jobs or email them out of the blue.
For example, I had a guy email my site and ask to use some content i'd written for his class (he was a teacher). I thought he was kidding (it was a very silly piece of content) so I did a search on his name and found out he was genuine, hell, I even know what he is paid (since his school publishes such detail in annual meetings).

For the PA type of "political + misc blog wiv comments" I like the idea of real names. At some point you have to take personal responsibility for your views, if they are political and not, um less serious, like this*
* I spent a few minutes reading the discussion tab of this link last weekend. It is surprisingly bitter.

Oh dear lord! another sven hassel reader! Although I'm impressed your high school had them, that is kind of crazy.

I can't really see anyone expressly defending the FG/FD's doctrine, not unless you think that defending their right to protest is an endorsment of their values.
Besides, where have you ever read anyone here advocate the repression of religious groups? Just because most people on PA don't seem to like the Religious Right, doesn't mean to say we do not acknowledge or support their right to publically state their opinions, no matter how repugnant they are to any one person.
Hooray for living in a Liberal Democracy?

So no hunting knives or eager pig dogs then?

I'd suspect the state of each colony could vary quite distinctly, depending on where it is, and when it was decolonised. But yeah, I'm not so sure Britain can rest on its laurels as a departingg power. While you can't blame them for everything that has happened in these countries subsequantly, they are culpable, and there are few that did not get into quite a dire state quite quickly after decolonisation.

I guess the implication is that long runningwars, like products, need clever marketing to stay in the global news.

If I recall correctly there was a period of time when articles on Sri Lanka were more common, back when the peace process started off and was working. Perhaps people were interested in good news stories as opposed to backsliding to the old status quo?

Ver illuminating article. So can we assume this newTamil force, the Kurana, are purely proxies of the government, or are they merely in an alliance of convenience? I could fully understand that there would be support from some Tamils for a genuine alternative force to the LTTE but I would be interested to see if that is how they are percieved by Tamils
