Washington: Damn it – he thought he was king.
In discovering late Friday that as president he's one of three intermeshed branches of government, Donald Trump belittled the jurist who had pulled him up quick-smart, as a "so-called judge" and his ruling that iced Trump's immigration crackdown as "ridiculous."
But much to their amazement, Trump and the Bannon bunch keep running into this brick wall – it's called American democracy. -
TV One News invented a new word last night 'expediate' !
(in lieu of expedite)Matt Nippert's Herald story on Thiel's profitable (for him) VIF partnered deal has Thiel becoming a 'New Zeander'
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11794020and the Herald's Leader writer can't even spell Barack Obama's name (Barrack)!

I was born the same year as Scott Base,
at the start of the IGY, but in Chchch…Once late last century when I used to do graphic work for the NZ Antarctic Programme – later Antarctica NZ – I had to stitch together
a panorama of Cape Roberts to present to the project leader (part of ongoing Andrill research) - it was also how they had to leave the site after the project finished. The photos were taken on the day I was born as part of the IGY!
it was a spooky feeling seeing those reflected photons,
trapped in silver amber since my first air-breathing moment
some of that same snow may have been core-sampled
as they drilled back through time…I wonder if (hope) Antarctica NZ has updated my amateurish illustrations in the reversible Field and First Aid Manual?

Speaker: Are we seeing the end of MSM,…, in reply to
Sheppard's delight...
Even when ya let them know not to propagate 'alternative facts' (or surname spellings) they still only fix half of them - seemingly Fairfax cannot afford 'find-and-replace' functions on their computers...Here's hoping a second comment will get through to them before the day is out.
(I'm starting to wonder if I should invoice them for 'unsolicited proofreading services')...and I will admit that Sheppard was born a 'Catherine' - but she preferred and used 'Katherine' insofar as I can find - so I'll defer to her choices.

Meanwhile over at Fairfax, Stuff have enlisted some geezer named Patrick Whittle (whose PhD thesis apparently addressed the egalitarian political implications of human evolutionary history, including sex/gender differences. ) to mansplain why ’Women are marching because the world really is becoming a scarier place for them’ – he really hammers the point home by getting Katherine ’Kate’ Sheppard’s name completely wrong :
This country’s “suffragettes” and their supporters, led by Catherine “Kate” Shepherd, were motivated by a desire to achieve sexual equality and thereby reduce violence against women.
what research worth a damn can he have done that he took any notice of?
Even the caption writers/subs get in on the act!
Suffragette Kate Shepherd was celebrated in "That Bloody Woman" at the Court Theatre last year.
- has history been dropped as a subject in our schools?
- do journalists not get $10 notes?Little wonder women are marching!!

Hard News: More medical cannabis…, in reply to
I can almost forgive them, given that he had the creatine in his pockets in point bags
Don't see why - that may have been the best way of portioning out his daily dosage - tiny ziplok© bags do not a criminal make - they sell them at our local Bin Inn I've noticed.
Though I can imagine one might be able to sell a white powder in a tiny ziplok© bag to an unsuspecting punter (or munter) in the right (or wrong) circumstances...

The Drugs (testing gear) don’t work!
Riki told police it was the sports supplement Creatine, but police tested it on their equipment and charged him with possession of amphetamine.

Nineteen-year-old Tonihi James Riki walked free from the Christchurch District Court on Tuesday after scientific testing of the powder showed he was right.http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/88960179/test-on-white-powder-sinks-drugs-case
