For some reason an image of an anime Yamato, crewed by a Japanese looking RIANZ crew, cruising the blogsphere looking for mirrors with a Linux/DVD's combo popped into my head.
If it helps, the "king of the blogsphere" talk made me think of an animated R Brown kitted out with crown and robe with a running gag of chowing his way through improbable piles of information.

I enjoyed a Morning report (?) interview a while back with some Fiji military type explaining that the media had to be controlled because they kept publishing insightful stories. That's what it sounded like to me, anyway.

Y'all know about that mathematical model? The one that says if we all want to live in a community that's more than half like us (perhaps less) you eventually end up with rigid segregation? So a) there's nothing sinister if it happens and b) any ethnic diversity is a sign of notable ethnic tolerance on somebody's part.
I'm also recalling Bill Bryson in Made in America talking about the USA's misty-eyed fondness for immigration provided it happened in the past. He argued all the evidence shows they do learn English and integrate and their children disappear into the general population.

I think it was Aristotle, w/r/t people who actually won't listen to actualy logic, asked a similar rhetoric question: "If water chokes, what do you wash it down with?"

I was listening to that from the next room. While I wouldn't have given Peter Brown airspace, I realised afterwards it was a good idea on account of said Brown being his own worst enemy.
OTOH, Campbell was so (for him) antagonistic - not that I'm precisely complaining about that - I don't imagine the whole spectacle would have changed anyone's mind.
