Okay, I'll start being (somewhat) serious again - orange juice tonight folks. Yep its green for me again, they're just so dour, so not not not sexy or fun. How can you be sooooo serious and yet still come across as flakey so much of the time. Okay even that isn't quite true.
Things I like about the Greens:
They're just about my shade of green.
They don't do coalition - rather take it issue by issue - IMO that's how MMP is supposed to work.
The "anti-smacking bill"
Other progressive social policy they've helped through.Things I don't like about the greens:
They might support the campaign finance bill - it was a no, then it was a yes, now its a maybe, right?
They're a bit too pink - I find the buy NZ made thing a bit backward. Though of course there are lots of good reasons for it (Enviro cost of shipping, chinese sweatshops etc), it just smells too much like Luddite parochialism to me.
They say really dumb things like, we should have a mechanism for people who drive under the influence of drugs as well as alcohol but the evidence shouldn't be used for bringing drugs charges. Sounds like they will let P users off to protect cannabis users from prosecution - and that is underhanded in the sense that, even if they (and I) think cannabis should be decriminalised, while there is still a law against it, and you get caught driving at 15k down the centre line, then tough luck. Of course thats not a 10th as dumb as JK saying the cops should be able to take DNA samples with every arrest on the basis that they would destroy it on aquital. Yeah right.
That "gotta have a female and male co-leader" thing. Why not a Maori (and a left hander) etc. (Remember "Land Rights For Gay Whales")
They ALL have bad hair (well, the first four that come to mind).
They're probably all structuralists, even if they don't know it.I did seriously think about voting Maori last time (the symbolic, useless thing like bjd said, but then they Pita Sharples and co appeared to abduct that kid for tampering with their posters etc and I couldn't.
I think we should form the PASHNCaSagfMGOYFHH Party. That'll do the trick.

Going backwards again... I did the vote Green thing and ended up feeling too much of a collaborator. I think I'll vote Maori again this time in the hope that Labour will have to do a real deal with them. But OMG, how can I risk the possibility of a govt with ol' Winnie white teeth in it? What was his slogan for the paddling-without-getting-his-shiney-shoes- wet poster? what this country needs is a new man - or something?
and if
I think this really all ultimately boils down to a conflict between the core structural concepts of object oriented and aspect oriented thinking patterns. Possibly a functional approach to considering the problem could contribute some real positive results also, but I think in terms of communicating effectively with urban Maori one really needs to keep object encapsulation carefully in mind and ensure proper separation of the model, view and controller. And while object-relational mapping may be the Vietnam of our time, at least by trying to resolve these issues we're stopping it becoming the Guantanamo Bay-meets Dresden of our time!
actually means something, could somebody translate for me?

I guess I could claim that was to do with tax cuts (following on from Shep) but really I think all these Friday non sequeturs are catching.

I love Bob the Builder but his recent competition Handy Manny, voiced by Fez of That 70's Show, more recently of "Yo Mama" fame, is even better. Such a simple life (and the white guy with the comb-over, from the next-door shop, is SUCH a bozo)!

Had a chat with my Tuhoe mate today. He says that the other, possibly most important thing, about Hikoi is that it is a healing process. You symbolically take the shit back to where it came from and leave it there. No damage done and everyone goes home to live another day.
Also Peter Williams' report was delivered to Tuhoe today. It should be up on one of their websites by tomorrow.
ngaituhoe This one includes "Tame Iti's Space", which is interesting
Maori news Lots of good links here
and for good measure, and article on The UN DECLARATION ON RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES which we, NZ, did NOT sign.

To continue with overblown metaphors - shit, now I've started drinking in the morning!
