Predictable from about the 4th para.
-
And in the meantime, the key point - that the participants in the conferance represent a particular worldview, which is oblivious to the actual effects of their "no lose" solutions - is completely ignored...
Isn't it a Jobs Summit?
Remind me again, don't many people in NZ work at businesses?

I don't wake up well.
I know its old, but this story is a classic on the perils of waking up to strange things in the bedroom.
-
but I don't believe I have ever heard a New Zealand leader tread with quite such heavy-footed lumpishness through the glorious first minutes of their incumbency.
Perhaps you should be offering your services as speechwriter to the stars again?
And its all very well making snide comments about Nikki Kaye, but how much detailed policy direction and influence do you think they got from Tizard?
Public Address System has become a rather bitter and negative place in the past couple of days. I hope it can recover its tone in the weeks to come.

The policy would cost $210 million a year once it is fully implemented.
I can't help wondering if the assumptions on the costing are as heroic as they were for the student/parent bribe in 2005.

The logo is kind of odd, but I actually think KR's twist improves it.
What's with the smarmy putdown on Kevin Roberts? I'd imagine it takes a special type of skill to get to his position, but I just skimmed The Edge speech that Russell linked to, and it seemed to be forward looking and positive.
Maybe y'all think we should be selling tourists on other themes?
"Come to NZ and see how we kill our children"
"Come to NZ and experience the thrill of testing dairy farm runoff"

And meanwhile, while the media circus is focusing on trivia and chasing fantasies, actual policy goes unexamined.
Maybe they are holding fire until Labour's detailed, fully costed, and exhaustively explained policies are released. One day.

She's a vindictive nutjob and a liar who has relentlessly pursued personal vendettas through official office.
I wonder if she or her staff have pursued the local version of chinless scarf wearers?
-
I am actually fairly stunned by Russell's willingness to front and direct this discussion on such a personal issue. Don't you think that it is her business on how to manage her pregnancy, not yours?
It amazes me that you are always making snide remarks and finger pointing at WhaleOil for such trashy reporting, but willingly undertake much the same behaviour when then target is a republican. What's up with that?

<quote>But when you have statements made to you by an alleged donor that directly contradict the statements being made in public by that Minister you can't just let them go nowhere?>>
He is a little more than an alleged donor to Labour and Clark. For goodness sake they took (and disclosed) $500,000 from him at the last election, took (and didn't disclose - denied in fact) a loan of $100,000, and made him an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit. He's not just some Joe at a meeting.
How can such a glaring conflict be sat on for so long? Presumably HC only mentioned it today because it was about to be disclosed by Glenn. I guess she had a heads up, otherwise why mention it at all?
